About Weaver
Founded by Harry A. Weaver in 1973 as the Fryburg Shoe Shop, Weaver grew from humble beginnings into the trusted manufacturer of a wide range of leather and nylon goods it is today. In the beginning, Harry concentrated on shoe repair, but before long he recognized the potential to expand into other markets. The fledgling company began handcrafting leather horse and cattle halters. The popularity of these halters led to the manufacture of more and more items prompting Weaver to become a driving force across various industries including equine, livestock, leather supply, pet, arborist, tool gear and custom manufacturing.

Overall this works just fine for setting rivets. I didn’t have any issues with rough machining or other quality control issues. It came lightly oiled to prevent rust, this was quickly cleaned off with a rag. I’m still very much an amateur leather worker but this tool, along with the corresponding CS Osborne copper rivets, has really stepped up my work quality and strength.I also picked up a ball peen hammer to finish off the rivets. This helped alleviate some of the initial issues I had with the dome portion of the rivet setter not being as effective as I’d like.

Quality traditional tool for setting Rivet and Burr fasteners. It makes setting rivets fast and secure. My old rivet setter tool has gone missing and I was happy to find a similar model.

I had initially purchased a very cheap combo rivet setter (#9(i think)). That thing SUCKED!!! After ruining 20+ rivets I returned it and purchased this one. It’s is excellent! Complete day and night difference from the cheap POS to this one.Just save yourself the time and trouble and get this one from the start. It was double the price of the cheap POS and worth every single penny.I wish I had just bought this one the first time.

Like the simplicity and heft of this solid rivet setter. Small detent for rounding the nipped shank is highly polished and worked quite well. Sold as a Weaver Leather item, but unsure if made in the USA. Given the simplicity of this single piece of heat treated steel, it would have earned 5 stars but for the price. This is obviously a highly specialized and low volume tool, but I got the feeling 2 or three middlemen added in their profit margin driving the price to about double what it should have been. That said, I, my children and grandchildren could use this setter for each of their lifetimes.

I recently ordered this to replace an old Tandy that I couldn't find. This thing is built like a tank - appears to be actual tool steel instead of the chromed steel that the old one was made of. It sets and peens the rivets better, too. Costs a little more, but it's worth the investment if you use it a lot.

This is a much better option for the copper rivets. The edges are beveled so as you are tilting the tool left right and around to get an even dome, it doesn't mark your leather AS MUCH. You should still have a little 2" circle of 2oz leather with a hole punched out of the middle laid over the post you just cut to protect your work piece from marring.The other thing about this tool compared to others (I have used and own about six other setting tools of similar design) is that the doming function produces a much, much neater and aesthetically pleasing shape compared to the Crafttool and others due to its superior finishing.Its stuff like this that makes me think "I'll see what other stuff Heritage makes, seeing as they spend a lot of time getting a simple static tool like this made so well". Good on you Heritage!
