I’m no electrician, but was able to complete the installation relatively easily. Instructions are clear and once you switch off the main current, wiring this control is a breeze. Works just as advertised and the range of speeds is a definite plus.

Easy Installation ... Replacing an Older Fan Switch. Was a bit dissatisfied with the 'numbering' of the Speed Control Slide Switch. '1' usually refers to the slower speed and I assumed '4' would be the fastest speed. This one is backwards ... but works GREAT ! I reversed the polarity of the wires ... still same results ! Oh, Well ! I generally leave the switch on one speed for a long time ... so this isn't too much of a nuisance. Internal wiring must be reversed. However ... It really does Perform Well on each of the 4 Intervals !

My old Casablanca wall fan control broke after 12 years of use; and both the fan control and fan have been discontinued. Came across this Westinghouse universal 4 speed fan control and decided to give it a try. Just 3 wires to attach, and my Casablanca fan is back in business Hopefully the new fan control will last, but thus far it looks like a great bang for the buck.

Switch works great and was easy to install, if you are familiar with basic electrical. If you can install a light switch, you can install this. My only issue is the switch is labeled from top to bottom with speeds 1-4 with 1 being the slowest. To me it seems like your fastest speed would be at the top, so where 1 would be fastest. Just a preference thing I guess. I will be ordering 3 more for all the fans in the house.

First off it works but the slide switch has two issues. One is the speed control numbering is reverse from the norm were 4 is lowest and 1 is highest, strange but doable. Because of this I thought that somehow the wiring was wrong so I reinstalled it by reversing the wires, however, that did not help.The other issue with the slide switch is the operation. The stops between speeds is terrible and difficult to set, cheap would be the operative word here. I've installed dozens of fan control switches and all operated smooth as butter-not this one.Minor issue is the manufacturers name on the switch. Seems totally unnecessary imo and looks tacky.Bottom line is it works for my purposes in an investment property, but had I'd known the issues beforehand I would have spent more to get a better switch.

No hum. Not cheap crap like others. Yes you need to take paint thinner and wipe off the goddy name plate. And yes it's backwards as to operation but oh well. It's a nice unit. I bought 3 now and did the whole house.

Im a commercial pilot who spends weeks away from home. I ordered two of these switches to control fans in an aircraft hangar in Florida. Once home from an extended trip I installed them using the useless "typically-Chinese" wiring diagram and quickly found that they don't work as advertised. The switches are labeled backwards (the #4 setting is slowest and #1 is fastest), which I could live with. The problem is that these are very poorly-made, cheap-Chinese units. On the #1 setting (high), each of the fans spun at obviously different rates (which they did not do with my old switches). There did not appear to be any difference in the other 3 settings, the fans spun at the same slow speed. In addition the fans made a terrible humming noise on all three slow settings. If this had happened with just one of the switches, I might consider it a anomaly, but it happened with both of them.To make matters worse, I submitted a return request to this company and after waiting a week was told they they wouldnt honor the return because of the amount of time elapsed. Again, I am pilot who travels a lot and installed them as soon as I got home after ordering them. I think that this is a shady company selling inferior products and would suggest that you avoid them at all cost. As they say, buyer beware !

Pretty simple... ground for safety, and then two black switch wires. Set your fan on its highest speed, then slide it on.A basic light switch circuit just like in the grade one diagrams, but with a ground wire to give the latest birds nest of wire you call an invention-improvement a common sense safety hug.

It controls the fan perfectly with 4 speeds, the only thing is the speeds are in reverse and moving the slider has a little clicky resistance that feels like you'll break something. However it works perfectly, no complaints for the price.
