I got this mostly because I care for a number of aquatic animals and at times it can be challenging to transfer liquids without a mess.In theory this pump would be helpful, but it takes a bit to get it all setup and then it’s USB powered which means you have to either get your own USB wall plug to dedicate to this, or hunt one down every time it’s used. This really makes no sense to be USB, other than cost savings.Unfortunately this will likely just be something that sits around instead of getting much use. That said, the price at around $15 is cheap enough that it was worth the risk to see if it will work for your uses

My husband has been making wine since he was stationed in Italy about 40 years ago. This year we had our first harvest from our own small vineyard. I was honestly just searching for a food-grade siphon hose and found this and decided to try it. My husband laughed when he saw it because it is “overkill†and unnecessary. That said, I do think that the on/off switch gives us more control, which will help prevent any small waste. A downside is that we do have to be close to an outlet or run an extension cord because it is dependent on electric.

I have been using this pump to fill bottles with home made cider. It's so much easier than my old siphon method. It's self priming and fills a 16 ounce bottle in 22 seconds. It's powered by a USB cable, so it can be used with a standard wall charger or a portable battery pack. You turn it on and off by a toggle switch on the power cord. I'm pleased with how well it works.

I make my own wine at home and generally, when transferring wine from the glass carboy where it wine ferments over to bottles I use an auto-siphon. That's a workable and time tested solution, but it can be a little messy when it comes to starting and stopping the flow for each bottle. This little pump will replace that. The key feature is the on/off switch on the cord which will be MUCH easier to deal with than trying to crimp a tube fast enough so that the bottle doesn't overflow. Another really great feature is the inclusion of a filter at the end of the tubing so you won't suck in all of the lees at the bottom of your fermenter, like can happen with a siphon. The pump is pretty quiet once the flow gets started and is USB powered. Note that it doesn't include a plug so you'll need source one yourself. Any regular phone charger with a USB-A port on it will work just fine. The flow itself isn't particularly fast - about .5 GPM but for bottling that's plenty. The tubing it comes with is pretty thin, light weight, and translucent white. I plan on replacing it with some clear food safe tubing come bottling time.

My biggest complaint with this is that it has a USB plug for some reason, which I didn't notice when I ordered it, I think they changed the title of the item to add this. I'm in a 1960s house, we don't have USB outlets in the kitchen. Almost no houses have USB outlets anywhere in them. WHY would you put that kind of plug on any electric appliance, especially something that isn't meant for use with a computer? It's just bizarre. The pump itself seems to work okay, but it's a little flimsy and cheap, and takes a long time to do a gallon of mead. I'm not sure this will last very long. You get what you pay for.

This little device is a time saver when it comes to a fermented drink distribution from a fermentation tank to smaller bottles. You can pour up to 2 quarts of liquid in one minute without making any mess. I used to do it with a funnel and a ladle - takes forever and make a mess. Now I feel much better and happy with this product.

I used the electric transfer pump today to bottle Kombucha. It worked well and easily allowed me to move my kombucha from a larger bottle into small mouth flip top bottles for a secondary fermentation. This pump requires that you plug it into a USB receptacle. I thought it was strange to use a USB plug and not just a regular wall plug, but I found an adapter and used this. It worked fine. The pump consists of a long plastic tube with a filter on the end which you put into the liquid you wish to transfer. There is a shorter plastic tube that exits the pump which I stuck into my receiving bottle. I pushed the switch and it worked quickly to fill my bottles. The only downfall (and one star deduction) is that there were no instructions included with this pump. I got it to work, but would have liked something to help me set it up and also give cleaning instructions after finishing.
