I use this thief as they are generally used... to pull a small sample of wine or mead out of a 5- or 6-gallon carboy to check on flavor and sweetness, or to check the gravity. I've used the three-piece plastic variety, the one-piece design with the triggered end, and now this stainless version. Of the three I've used, I prefer this one because I feel it can be easily cleaned, won't harbor bacteria in the plastic parts, and just feels nice in the hand.Please note to other reviewers, the length of the thief is intended to let you reach further down into a carboy or other container. The bulb is not intended to be sized to be able to completely fill the volume of the thief! If you are trying to fill a hydrometer tube, you might need to take multiple samples, but for a small taste there is plenty of volume in one pull.

Not terribly made, but the top falls off easily and you can only pick up a few ml...maybe 1/4 wine glass each squeeze.I miss my cheap plastic one I replaced with this.

Works as it should but nothing amazing. Will spend more in the future to get a higher quality product.

The bulb doesn't expand very easily once it's sucking up liquid. The bulb is also far too small for the volume of the tube. Very poor quality.
