There are two key things to consider when using this tool: Safety and Finesse. If you aren't extremely careful using this tool, you could have a very bad day. Using a guard and vacuum hose are imperative. Second, finesse. You really need a light touch if using it to remove paint from soft surfaces like wood. I found it took some practice, but once I figured out the sweet spot, it was extremely effective in removing multiple layers of old paint. I think this item is overpriced. Considering the materials necessary to make it are very common, and it's basically a piece of molded plastic with metal inserts, this ought to cost $25 - $30 tops. Even so, it saved me a lot of time on a hard job.

I had screwed up the stain job. Wanted to start over. Didn't want to use chemicals to remove the stain job. The diamond brush took it down to the bare wood. New start. Scars the wood when it isn't handled correctly. But, pretty easy to learn how to control it. Note that instructions advise that the grinder needs to be limited to at or under 10,000 (I assume rotations per ...) I needed to buy a new grinder (to fit the diamond brush as my cheap grinder had a wrong sized arbor.) The Makita I bought was rated at the 10,000 whatevers. The sawdust created is amazing! filled the shopvac by 2/3's. I had a device to attach to the grinder that allowed my to attach the shop vac hose in order to capture the dust/sawdust. I didn't use it. It was a hassle for me. As a result, very fine sawdust every where. I periodically sweepted (sp?) it up and dumped it into the shop vac barrell. At the end the barrel/can was 2/3's full. And under the deck! Lot's of sawdust. But, very rewarding. The deck is about 25' by 10' and the ramp/walk way up to the ramp 4'by 35' - estimates! Day and a half project. Stained it with Penofin penetrating oil that my wife heard about on a call-in radio show (WCCO - Minneapolis.) Easy application as I used a floor mop (that spunge (sp?) type that has the squeezer to get out the excess.) Beautiful finish. The scars from the diamond brush were fairly limited as I caught on as to how to control it/the diamabrush/grinder. Also, I did some finish sanding to deal with some of the marks. The stain also seemed to hide some of the marks. Anyway, very happy with the project and especially Diamondbrush. Thank you to the YouTube videos!!! or I'd never known about Diamonabrush. I'm quite proud of myself! Big project and did it all myself - with a lot of help from Diamabrush. (I can't remember the spelling.) BTW, I bought some "rubber" knee pads and they were critically important! Hearing protection - a must. Dust protection - a must. Scott in Austin MN

I used the Dimabrush to remove paint from the redwood siding on my home. The top coating was a heavy latex which quickly fouled the cutters. It was necessary for me to use a heat gun to remove this layer from the siding first. The tool then worked well stripping what was left, but I needed to sand the wood afterwards with 60 and 80 grit paper. So now I understand why this tool is principally marketed to remove single layer deck coatings. However, it definitely played a useful role in my process. It’s just not a miracle paint eraser, but I don’t think any one tool or method can be. It’s a good tool to have in your inventory along with a belt sander, orbital sander, pole sander, oscillating tool, and heat gun along with various bladed scrapers.

When I 1st moved into my house I stained my deck with a solid stain. After a few months it chipped, and the paint that didn't chip you couldn't sand or scrape off. I tried sanders and every heavy acid chemicals to no avail. So every year all I could do was repaint that chip parts that would eventually chip off again. So ugly. I saw this deck removal tool on you tube, so I thought I'd give it a try. I know it's pricey, but trust me it is so worth it. I was able to scrape all the solid stain off to bare wood. UNBELIEVABLE tool. You have no idea how happy I am l. I no longer have to deal will with solid stain chipped look that was such an eye sore. Look at posted clips. Now, to use this tool you need to follow all safety precautions. You need to wear long sleeve shirt and pants. The chip paint comes off so fast it leaves marks and stings as it hits you. Also wear goggles to protect your eyes. And definitely wear heavy duty gloves.Overall, I did a 300 square foot deck and it lasted through the whole project. Again, I know it's pricey, but to me how it did the job to bare wood it was worth every penny. My pics might be deceiving with the different shades of wood. That's only because some deck boards were replaced. Trust me, I saided all sold stain off down to bare wood.

This thing eats paint!! I just cleaned off a 450 sq ft deck with peeling paint. It got a bit worn by the end of the project, but still worked good enough to finish the job. Works with very little pressure on the grinder, but just holding the grinder takes a bit out of you.It also eats wood. You will make some gouges no matter how careful you are. I told myself it leaves a hand scraped finish people pay money to get. You have to hold that grinder tight or it will get away from you and dig in deep to the wood surface. If you don't want that, you may need to rent a commercial drum sander to smooth the surface. The benefit of this tool is that it removes the paint which would gum up sand paper. One thing to note is that if you hit nails or screws, it will damage the tool. So have a hammer or driver at the ready to sink any raised fasteners below the surface.

It did work. Wood was very rough and the product didn’t last long enough to be cost effective. I found a few “flap discs†to be the affordable way, and they left a smoother surface.

I bought this wood deck paint removal and when I used it I was beyond pleased with how efficiently it took out the paint. I ordered a second one thinking that one was not enough to finish my deck but as stated in the product instructions it will do 1,000 sq. ft and it did just that. The seller was kind enough to reimburse my second order without hesitation. Excellent product and excellent customer service.

I took on the challenging task of working on a client's deck that had been previously stained and painted with Bear's deck over in a textured finish. Let me tell you, removing that stuff was an absolute nightmare. I attempted various chemical solutions, but they were expensive, time-consuming, and ultimately ineffective in removing the old paint. Even sanding with 30 grit didn't yield any positive results. After three days of brainstorming, I turned to the internet to find a solution. That's when I came across the Diamabrush, which became my last hope.Let me tell you; this tool is simply incredible! It instantly stripped everything down to the bare wood. However, there are some essential things to keep in mind when using it:-BUY THE DUST SHIELD!!! The particles come off at high speed, making it a little dangerous without proper protection. A full face mask with the Diamabrush dust shield is essential.-Be cautious around exposed nails. Avoid going over them directly. Instead, work around them and return to handle them at the end. The tool might eat the nail, causing damage to the blades, and considering the tool's cost, you wouldn't want to render it useless by losing a blade.-Use minimal pressure. The best results come when you allow the machine's weight to work for you. Applying too much pressure can gouge the wood.-Ensure the tool is flat and evenly pressurized. This will help maintain consistent results and prevent any unnecessary damage. In my experience, even after working on a 600 sq/ft deck, the blades still had around 50% life left. The Diamabrush is a game-changer, making the seemingly impossible task much more manageable.

Will leave swirl marks if not moving frequently. Does the job better than other options. Simply sand afterwards.

Purchased this tool to fit my older angle grinder which has a 1/2†spindle. Tool arrived promptly but is for a 5/8†spool. Perhaps I should have realized it, or it should have been indicated. At first I requested a return, but then looking at the tool and not having any other less laborious options I decided to purchase a new grinder. Glad I did, I was able to clean paint from my 12’ x 10’ spruce deck in less than 1 hour. You have to keep it flat, as instructed, as it removes wood as fast as paint. Lots of clean-up with a Shop Vac afterwords, but it sure performs as advertised. I would recommend.

This Diamabrush worked great for removing the layers of old deck stain and paint. I had a 12x30 deck and could have used 2 of these brushes rather than struggle with just one. I was able to finish sanding the deck to a layer that could be stained in under 5 hours. This product gives you a rough removal and will require a light sanding after.
