For spring hiking when snow is melting like crazy and water can be particularly prevalent, I find some light hikers and neoprene socks can be a surprisingly delightful combination. Wool socks exchange water so quickly, you're always in cold water. The size medium of these fits my women's size 10.5 feet just loose enough to be comfortable inside a shoe. I had to cut away the tag that kept stabbing me, but that's a common problem for these socks.I've had a few. The most comfortable is still the one made as a sock on the left of my photo. On sale at REI, they were similarly priced ($22 10 years ago) and have more nylon content (25%) to be a little more supple. They weigh in at 90g (3.2oz) for the pair. The second I hoped would be great on their own for fording rivers and leaving the shoes dry. They are 3mm neoprene and otherwise very similar to these with only 10% nylon. They were a bit cheaper ($15 a few years ago) and have tougher fabric on the heel as well as toe. The dots for traction did not help on slimy river rocks and tender feet feel barely protected from sharp rocks. But the warmth is also important and that's there! They weigh in at 135g (4.8oz), so that extra thickness makes them heavy. The band is absolutely useless and I should take a careful seam ripper to it and make them lighter. These were $22 when I hit the button and $20 for size M as I review. Humph. The silicone buttons are similar and there are many surfaces that they don't really add traction to. They still take a little of the wear on hard surfaces. The seam across the toe bugs me off and on. They are just loose enough around my foot to feel comfortable and still fit in a shoe. These fit the widest of the three. I do have to lace the shoe a little looser vs. a wool sock, but it fits in a shoe. They are shorter and have a cuff with a sticky rubbery inside. I like the softer insides better, but just at the top doesn't bug me. It weighs in at 88g (3.1oz) for the pair, so very slightly the lightest of them all. Also the shortest rise.

I do a lot of kayaking in coastal ocean waters, and ordered these neoprene socks to give me another option to keep my feet warm on the colder days. The socks will do the job. They are simple and lightweight and look well made with flat-stitched seams. But the potential downside is that they are pretty loose fitting. My feet measure a men’s 8.5, so I ordered the LARGE socks for 8.5-9.5. I find the socks to be quite roomy and loose fitting. They will work fine worn with Teva sandals (see photo), but I think they would move around to much on the foot if used alone, especially in sand. I also have rather skinny ankles and the cuff of the socks doesn’t fit tightly. These have some leeway in the sizing if worn with sandals, but you might want to order a size smaller if you want a snug, tight fit.

I love love love these sand socks! These are a sensory dream compared to the other beach shoes I’ve tried. My feet are pretty narrow, and because these are socks and not a “shoe†they conform better to my foot without any spots that rub and feel like they could become blisters. They’re very soft and comfy, easy to put on, a little less easy to remove (might be easier to peel them off than slide them off, but I guess it depends how you normally take off your socks, I slide mine off by hooking the part around the ankle so they don’t flip inside out, but doing that with these causes this anti-slip band around the top edge of the sock to grip you and hold on tight like it has abandonment issues lol) I’m definitely getting more of these because they’re really great and will also making getting the sand off my feet before putting on shoes so much easier (bc after rinsing your feet always inevitably get sandy again 🫠)

I received these booties and tried them on. I'm a size 11 and 1/2 and decided to upsize one from XL to 2xl. That was probably a mistake because my foot was swimming in these. If you look at the bottom, they are just a giant oval and don't even really try to conform to the shape of an actual foot. My foot slides around in them quite a bit both front to back and side to side. I think you would have to be a size 13 or bigger to fit in these. I'd probably have to buy a size XL and L to be able to compare to find the right size for my foot. It's too bad because the stitching on these is pretty good as is the material overall. The top part on my ankle fits snugly and will definitely keep sand out. If you do buy these air toward smaller. Do I recommend them? I'm really on the fence with this one. I think they need to work on the shape of the sole.

I ordered these XUKER sand socks for an Outer Banks SCUBA trip, and they completely transformed my beach walking experience. No burnt feet on hot sand or worries about sharp objects! These neoprene socks provide comfort and protection, allowing me to move freely and confidently on the beach. The updated cuff design keeps sand out, and the stretchy neoprene ensures a snug fit, making them perfect for water sports or casual beach time.I appreciate the grippy soles and durable construction. The flat-lock stitching prevents blisters and chafing, while the reinforced heel and toe caps add strength. Whatever I am doing on the beach, these socks offer unbeatable performance and comfort. If you are looking to take your beach activities to the next level, these XUKER sand socks are a must-have!Thanks, AMAZON!Mark in North Carolina

I have tender feet and these are heavenly for beach walks. They are water proof, and have a tight band to keep the water out. These keep your feet protected, dry and warm on the beach. They also work to protect your feet from scorching hot beach sand. These have been a game changer for me.

These XUKER neoprene socks are great when my husband and I play beach volleyball on cold, rocky sand. The antislip sole protects your feet and seems like it will make them last longer. The extra large is a little loose for a men's size 11, but the socks still work well. They are comfortable to wear and keep sand out of them. We prefer this ankle design over other brands crew length sand socks we have tried. They are easy to wash and dry after using them.
