We have several of these hose reels. They work really well, are easy to put together, they wheel around nicely when needed and are stable.

I decided to buy this reel after reading all the mixed reviews, and I can say that I'm not disappointed. Fortunately, the box came with all the right parts, and the crank doesn't hit the frame (I guess they fixed the problem). Assembly is relatively straight-forward, even with minimal mechanical experience. I have listed the pros and cons below (read only up to the first period on each bullet point if you don't want the details).Pros- Very stable. If you position the cart so that you pull the hose straight out of the reel (as opposed to pulling it out sideways), the cart will not tip over. The wheels make positioning the cart very easy. In the same position, the hose will also reel in very smoothly without kinking (it may kink when reeling for the first time, but it will be butter smooth after that). This is a gigantic step up from the regular plastic carts which flex, tip, and move around all the time when pulling the hose in and out.- Connections. The metal connectors are great and seem like they would be durable.- All metal. This makes the cart extremely stable and durable. Heavy-duty construction ensures that the cart will not tip over and that it won't flex. Definitely worth the extra money.Cons- Tires. While I like pneumatic tires, I don't think it's a good idea for tools that will be kept outside. The rubber may disintegrate after being kept in the sun and rain. Time will tell.- Frame base. The base of the frame has two little squares sticking out where the metal contacts the ground. The paint on the metal will wear right off with use, leaving the bare metal to rust. I stuck some surface protectors on them to prevent that from happening.- Exaggerated capacity. This cart definitely will not hold 200' of 5/8" hose. I have 100' of 5/8" hose in the cart, and it takes up over 3/4 of the capacity. I guess it also depends on how tight you wind up the hose, but even then 200' seems over the top (both literally and figuratively).Overall, the ease of use and apparent durability make this a great buy. If you get a non-defective reel with all the right parts, you will never go back to the plastic ones. I've only had this reel for a week, so I will update on its durability in a few years if it is still available.Edit: Yard Butler stands behind their products. My hose reel leaked, and they replaced it after seeing a picture of the leak through email, no hassle. Shipping the replacement unit did take a long time though.

I had this put together in about ten minutes. The instructions are horrible, but enough to guide you the right direction and to enable you to figure out what to assemble in what order. I did have one screw on the handle assembly that didn't line up very well and I thought I might end up stripping the threads, but it finally went in with a little persistence. Also,I had no problem with the handle hitting the unit as others have mentioned; apparently the manufacturer fixed that issue. I agree that it needs some sort of padding on the bottom bar that sits on the ground; otherwise the protective coating will scratch off over time and it will probably rust. This next point is obvious, but thought I'd say it anyway. It does not "hide" your garden hose like the plastic "box models" do, so in that respect it is not as esthetically pleasing to the eye...it's actually a little gaudy to some degree. But, if you want something that is very functional and keeps your hose tidy, something that will last for quite some time, this is it. The large wheel that holds the hose and the handle to turn it with makes short work of rolling up a long section of hose. I have 50 feet of large diameter hose on mine and it can take a little more, but I don't think it will take a full 100 feet very easily with the thicker sort of hose I have.Overall, though, I do recommend it. Great craftsmanship; it will last a while, I believe.

I ordered this hose truck to replace a broken plastic hose truck that was falling apart. The first plus is that this hose truck is all metal. The metal construction is sound and feels very sturdy. The wheel is also smooth and allows for quick winding of fully extended hose. I don't really move the hose truck around much but the wheels are nice to have and they have allowed easy movement over grass and uneven ground.Putting it together was easy and straight forward with the included instructions. It took me no more than 10 min. I added a piece of hose insulation around the front support to prevent scratches and scrapes that could lead to corrosion.I have experienced very little leaking from this unit as well. With typical use I have no leaking but if it is a considerably warm day out I will have a little leaking until the cold water can cause the metal parts to re-tighten. Since my hose truck is out side this makes little difference.Care for this hose truck is also easy as it requires virtually zero care. I have brought it in for the winter to prevent any freezing and unnecessary exposure. I expect this hose truck to last me for some time.

I've only assembled the cart and stowed 100ft of hose on it. Have not used it yet. The assembly is very straight forward and the solid tires are a bonus.

I like that the connection to the hose creates a non kinking connection, most designs are lousy with kinking the hoses. The design here is great and it works great.Only problem is we believed their claims that it holds. We have 200' of hose and the thing is OVERburdened and the hose keeps falling off. It does not reel the hose up in an organized way so you have to guide it and still struggles to hold the full length of hose. It's better being advertised as 150'.

Worked so well to start, I bought a second one. Then late in the 2nd year, one of them started leaking internally. Early in the 3rd year, the mechanism joining the stationary feed to the rotating hose completely separated and lost its seal, making the whole thing useless. Now the second one I bought is starting to leak.

The steel frame fits my needs of holding a 75 foot hose with ease. The tires are extremely cheap and will definitely not last more than two seasons. Make sure that the tires are half full or the rubber will crack around the seam very quickly.

I bought one of these last year and it came with all the parts, and fit together fine. I figured I buy another exactly the same, but it was a mess. The bolts holding the wheels on did not start in the threads, either the threads are different, or the welded in nut was damaged on both sides. Then went to put the reel handle on and was missing the bolts. Then went to put the pull handle on and again missing the bolts. No damage to the plastic bag that holds all the parts, so it left the factory that way. I wouldn't recommend again. For the price, it should have better quality control, but it's just a cheap piece of junk now.

A little difficult to assemble, but overall it's a good sturdy unit that seems like it will last a long time. Much better choice than those plastic hose reels in my opinion
