A good size, well balanced and strong. It needed no sharpening after it arrived. The head stays firm on the handle with just a tap or two. I've used it to chop out deeply rooted weeds and crab grass. Also used it to dig out around a fence post to straighten the post rather than digging too big of a hole with a shovel. I'm happy with the price and purchase.

I own a full-size mattock that I use for various digging tasks in our yard. It’s a tool that I can’t do without. I find this small mattock is helpful, too. It’s short handle & light weight make it useful in tight spaces. Dug a 18†hole for a sign post when it arrived today. Job was done in no time. Sturdy tool with a fiberglass handle & a forged metal head that I sure will be used often. Recommend.

Great little pick for gardening easy to use and sturdy. I have a very small rocky area for gardening and this is a helpful small pick mattock, very happy with it and have had no problems with the sturdiness of it. I have hit many small and not so small rocks,pried and dug out without any damage to the tool. Recomend it.

The tool is sharpen enough for getting crabgrass, and any other weeds out easy to handle works perfectly. Great gardening tool!

The minute I picked this up (after ordering) and held it in my hands, I could feel the quality. Used it for breaking up rock, tree roots, and bricks in building a patio. Worked well. A nice blend of a strong, but lightweight pick. Great purchase!

So I needed a pick to get through some tough soil in my front yard and I wasn’t sure if this would be too small but after receiving it and putting it together I put it to use right away and it worked better than expected it’s a great tool to have for gardeners

I highly recommend the mattock for heavy digging tasks.Using a mattock makes the work so much easier!
