The roof valley filled with snow and then a slow and sporadic snow melt caused an ice dam to back up from the eavestrough into the roof valley. The valley heater removed the snow and ice from the valley area when placed and plugged in and left in the valley and when relocated as I more correctly found the valley alignment under the snow. The valley heat mat was easy to move and install from the ladder and shift between locations to melt a larger area. I placed half of a gazebo leg sandbag on top of the heat mat on the flatter portion of the valley as a precaution against the wind removing the heat mat. I've used the heat map as a temporary measure to clear the valley area. Hopefully the new deicer cable in the eavestrough will remedy the problem with ice dams at this location.

Got this pad to try and prevent ice dams from forming on my porch roof. The surface of this pad is probably the slickest material they could have picked. Had it rolled out on my sidewalk and step on it once and nearly fell. Seriously walking in ice isn’t easier. Tried for nearly a half hour to roll it out on my porch roof which is either an 2 or 3/12 pitch and it kept sliding off. Promptly rolled it back up and will be returning. Can’t speak to the heating features of the product but again if you are getting it for a pathway walking on snow and ice is easier and safer. This pad has no grip pattern, rubberized coating, or mounting clips or mounting points like others. Cord is also cheap plastic that became rigid in minutes in the cold air. I didn’t expect a perfect product but at the price point I expected better.

Works wonders to keep a strip cleared of ice and snow, but is very slick when wet. Adding anti-slip grip tape seems like a good idea.

I order the official HeatTrak mats for my stairs but I figured I’d give this one a try since the price was so much lower. I was surprised at how well it worked. I read other reviews that mentioned how slick it gets when wet, so I added the anti-slip grit take about every 5-6 inches, the width of the mat. I walked carefully across it and it worked perfectly. Make sure you buy an outdoor extension cord and something to keep water out, because the cord that’s included is very short. It’s super easy to use, just plug it in before the snow and watch it go. It’s easy to store and rolls up pretty small. When you may roll it, it still lays flat. It worked so well I decided to order a second mat for the other portion of my sidewalk. As I have only used it for one storm, I will update my review if it stops working.

This did clear the snow well, as was described. However, it was treacherously slick, not just when it was wet but, also when it was clear but cold.

These things are the BOMB! No shoveling needed. Only thing better would be if they hooked up end to end. I'd buy enough to melt the driveway!

I bought because the negative reviews had to do with obvious issues that any heat pad would have. What i found was laying a black strip of plastic has the same if not better effects drawing the heat from the sun on a nice day. This says it get up to 115°. Well it doesn't matter what the outside temp is one can hardly feel it producing any heat at all. No where near 115°. The product uses just under 500watts of electricity, two heat lamps of same wattage together do a better job melting than this so called heat mat.It suggests that it works even at -20c (-4°F). It may function at that temperature but as far as it having any effect on the ice and snow is unnoticed. At 19°F, no noticeable effects and heat generated is minimal if at all felt. At 32°F, with sun beating down on mat, some effects were noticed after hours of use (12ish hours). This product is a waste of time, a total waste of money, and very over hyped about.I will continue using salt and sand after testing this product in one place for 36hours.Also, it says it does approx. 2" of snow and ice per hour. I can only see that being true it snowed one day and the next day was a hot summer day.Save your money, save your time. It's only wishful thinking that this product can do what it says it can do.Now I'm off to go roll it up and put it back in the box. I'll go back to using heat lamps, salt, and sand.

I bought 2 x 25ft ones for ice on a ramp and connected them to a thermostatic outlet, little did i know South Texas would get 3+ inches of snow 3 weeks later. I put an outdoor rug on top on them so there would be no slipping on the heated mats. These worked great and allowed safe passage up and down the ramp in the snow.

I am using in a spot outside our back door where the gazebo is. There is only about 18" of space which makes it very difficult to get a shovel in to remove the falling snow off the gazebo roof. I laid this out and plugged in the wall and now the are is always clear of snow.

Advertised as a de-icing matt, and inside the box it indicates for roof de-icing or pathways. Very light material, and slippery, but melted snow and ice quite well to clear section of patio near BBQs. Lightweight and no grommets for anchoring. Weighted the corners, but once ice melted the wind got under it and caused it to roll up, and then it melted itself together. Returned.
