Pros: Good value, comes with a nice translucent case to organize the 3 sizes of dowels.Cons: I needed to use the 1/4" dowels for a project. Unfortunately, these 1/4" dowels were too small & the joints were too loose fitting, so could not use them. Maybe a bad batch ?The 1/4 inch dowels all were 0.004" of an inch smaller ( 0.246" instead of 0.250" measured outside diameter using a Starrett Venier Caliber ).Measured some of the 5/16" & 3/8" dowels:5/16" ( 0.3125") dowels = 0.312" to 0.314" .3/8" ( 0.375") dowels = 0.372" to 0.375".I bought some fluted 1/4" oak dowels from Lowe's (Madison Mill, US ) 0.252" to 0.254" OD which made for a very tight fitting joint, even without using any glue.

Prior to these I'd been cutting making my own dowels from dowel rods and even making dowel markers with the same (very difficult to get exact). While these don't have holes in the centers for making markers very easy, as I've seen some have, these are a huge step up from my bargain basement fabrications. These are so much more solid, have the flutes for proper gluing, and without any rips in the wood grain.. There is no doubt these are very hard and strong dowels as I've had to saw through a few that were only glued in one end to fix mistakes (oops). They totally wrecked my coping saw blades even without any glue. Hrmpf! You can trust your joints with these. - they're gonna be harder than your wood.

Not a whole lot to say, they are beechwood dowels. They are straight, correctly dimensioned, and come in a decent plastic case to keep them organized by size. I like the well-grooved sides for glue-ups. They work as intended.

This actually measure 0.225", not 0.25 inch so they are pretty sloppy in a 1/4" hole. My jigs use 1/4" guide bushing for a 1/4" drill so it will not be easy to use these as glue dowels. They are fluted for glue release though, but since the diameter is too small to provide a snug fit. They may be ok for craft projects that do not require a solid glue joint, but not for much else.
