I like the quality and long cord and will buy more. Hope I see even higher wattage units since in a extreme cold in the single digits and teens, with a large water trough, ice does form but very manageable.

I’ve been using this de-icer for a few weeks now, and it’s been a game-changer during freezing temperatures. It works exactly as advertised, keeping the water from freezing in my livestock water buckets and birdbath even during some pretty harsh weather. What I appreciate most is that it turns on automatically when the temperature drops below freezing, so I don’t have to worry about constantly checking on it. It’s one less chore to think about, and it gives me peace of mind knowing the animals always have access to fresh water.The build quality feels solid, and I like that it’s made of non-conductive aluminum with a Teflon coating. It’s reassuring to know it’s safe to use in all kinds of containers without damaging them or causing any safety concerns. Plus, the coating helps prevent rust and limescale buildup, which is a nice bonus since I don’t have to clean it as often.The built-in thermostat is a really thoughtful feature. This little heater, which is self-regulating in very cold weather, is submerged into a water feature which doubles as a running water oasis for birds.It usually has to be winterized, but this handy tool lets us keep things "flowing".
