One pad I used to block a hole that rodents had made in the garage. Hopefully that will stopped them gnawing back through. The other I'm using for final metallic cleanup before polishing on the wheel. At the end of the day, it's steel wool and does what it does. This seems no better or worse than others I've used.

I recently used this Steel Wool Hole Filler to plug up some holes in my kitchen cabinet under the sink and in my closet space where I suspected mice were entering. The package contained a generous amount of steel wool, which was easy to work with and mold into the gaps and cracks. So far, I'm happy to report that I haven't seen any signs of mice since using this product. It seems to be doing its job in keeping them out. I appreciate the simplicity of this solution; no traps, no poisons, just a physical barrier that mice can't chew through. While it's still early to give a definitive verdict, I'm optimistic that this steel wool will continue to be an effective deterrent. It's a relatively inexpensive and easy-to-use solution for anyone dealing with unwanted rodent visitors.
