This was a good replacement for the original that I had to cut off, original didn't have any anti-seize on it so that it would come apart to replace inner parts.

I bought this because the original brass bonnet nut would not come loose with reasonable force (if you apply too much force, the valve body could be torn lose from it mounting and plumbing attachments resulting in a much bigger problem) even after being heated slightly with a propane torch. Therefore, I carefully cut the original bonnet nut off using a dremel. The replacement bonnet nut appears to have a chrome finish or made of stainless steel which I hope will be easier to remove the next time the cartridge needs service.

Yes, I "misplaced" the nut I took off and had to buy these. Great thing is they arrived the next day so didn't really slow the job down. Now I have an extra one for the next bathroom remodel job, unless I "misplace" it as well. Good quality, quick delivery. Would definitely buy again.

the quality feels cheap. I've had it for only a few weeks, and already it's showing signs of wear and tear. The threads are starting to strip, and I can already tell it's not going to last long.

They are not the best quality bonnet nuts, probably less than the OEM versions in overall quality feel. But they work exactly as the OEM ones. The bonnet nuts are mounted hidden inside the sleeve. As long as they work, they are good to go. Over tightened bonnet nuts create problems for future services. Overtime it seizes and when you deploy destructive force to take it off, you need new bonnet nuts. Hand tighten and no leaks, that's when you continue to next step.
