We used this to defrost a frozen vanity sink pipe on an exterior wall. Will continue to use for the remainder of the winter here in Vermont. This heat tracing cable can overlap itself. Many other brands can not.

Heats quickly but I am concerned because there is no thermostat to regulate it. I won't need it for several months when the weather turns cold so I will update this review then.

Though item was unbeknownstdelivered to neighbor, and neighbors item was delivered to us, all was fine . A16 feet of precise temperature controlled, quality material for indoor and outdoor use. Wrapped over frozen potable water hose, and foam tubes over the whole. Within minutes of plugging in, the water flow was re establish. Thank you Amazon and supplier for a great service and product. I recommend this product.

At 35 feet this is a perfect length to wrap our outdoor garden hose pipe. Nothing is worse than a frozen hose when you need to wash off muddy boots, etc. With this tape, I was able to wrap the pipe from under the house to the faucet with a little left over for the start of the hose. This should keep it free flowing this winter. I haven't been able to use it outside as it has been too warm, but I did stick it in our deep freeze and the tape warmed up to a nice temperature so I have faith that it will keep our faucet clear.

It was easy to install. It heats up fast. I well made. I was a good length. I would say make sure you measure the pipes you want to heat so that you don't have a to long of a heat tape. I will be purchasing more.

Last winter, the valve that supplies water to my house froze completely leaving us without water. The pipe was insulated with foam insulation, but obviously that wasn't enough. I had heard about heat tape/heat trace before, but I hadn't really looked into it thinking that it would be too complicated or expensive. Well, this product proves I was wrong, as it is very affordable and straightforward to use.It is currently summer when I'm writing this review, so I don't have any testing in actual cold conditions. I did test this out in my home, and I found that the results are promising.First, I tested it in ambient conditions. After about 10 minutes, the heat tape got to a comfortable 98 F. I would describe the heating as "gentle" since it happens slowly and it doesn't get too hot.I then tested it in a bath of ice water. I submerged as much of the cable as I could, and after 10 minutes I measured the submerged tape temperature to be around 70F. I think this is perfect as the cable isn't getting concerningly warm, but it is getting warm enough to prevent freezing. It's nice that this comes with tape to adhere it to the pipe. The heat tape is thick but it is flexible, so this should make installation straightforward.

This pipe heat tape is well made from quality materials. It appears durable and rugged. The tape can be used for a variety of uses. From wrapping water pipes, to placement on roofs, gutters and even around the trunk of a tree. The tape is self regulating on electricity usage according to temperture, so as to be energy efficient. It should be noted that this tape is useful for pipe sizes up to 2". An important fact that should not be overlooked, is that the product is UTL listed. This adds peace of mind that the item is safe for use. The item is as described by the seller. I am very pleased with this item and believe you will be as well. Therefore, Dr. T. highly recommends this product!!

First winter trying these. I bought 2. First one I insulated against our 1.25 inch water main for twenty feet. It was frozen when I turned it on. Water within 30 mins. The second I attached to pipes in the semi-open crawlspace, 4 pipes, 2 for heat and a hot and cold water to the other building. once insulated and turned on the water was going in a couple hours. Good quality materials

The sun on super cold days melts the roof snow which immediately freezes in the eavestrough. Then eventually the ice builds up and meltwater flows and drips off icicles onto the porch walkway. A slip a fall waiting to happen and ice chippers mark up the patio pavers.I've used a similar heating core in the vertical Eaves troughs that also fill up expand split and become a gigantic icicle down the side of the house possibly even compromising the clay brick over time.A no-brainer then, a no-brainer this time. This coil does provide heat I can feel, and smart outlet with built-in power monitoring shows and it's consuming watts as specified and will only occasionally be used during the winter.

For this heat tape, I dropped it in a pot of cold tap water stuck in a thermometer, wrapped it in towels and turned it on.At an initial temp of 10C, the current draw was about 900W on my power meter. More than triple the 250W spec on this cable. Power quickly dropped down to about 500-600W while the water temp remained below 20C or so, and then continued to drop as temps increased. At about 60C, power draw was down to about 50W. I suspect the cutoff for this cable is right around 65C, which is also the max spec temperature for this cable. I would never expect the cable to fully shut off though, as it should reach some equilibrium temperature as it ramps down.My plan for this product, though completely off label, is to use it to keep my main hot water line hot in lieu of a recirculating system, to hopefully save on total power by eliminating the need to dump cooled water from my hot water lines when I run my taps.Things to note:- Instructions indicate it can only be used in accessible locations, so not buried e.g. behind drywall- Instructions also call for plugging into a GFCI type protection, which could up your cost to install.- The included aluminum tape is just 3/4â€. I think it’s just meant to strap this to a pipe, not to be used as part of insulating a pipe.

This heat tape works well. It heated up surprisingly warm while holding it in a coil in my hand. We camp mostly in the Spring and Fall in the mountains so freezing at night is not unusual. I have a heat traced hose and also some heat tape for where the water supply comes up out of the ground but I needed more for my duplex filters and even my mini RV water softener. I also need to heat trace the short hoses between some of these units. This will work nicely.

I chose this TOPDURE heat tape for use with my propane tanks/hoses while running my meat smoker in cooler/cold weather. Given the cold Canadian winters, it can be difficult to keep propane flowing in low temps, especially when well below freezing. While it's still Fall and I've only used this in 5-10 degree C weather thus far, it does seem to be working well. I've wrapped my propane regulator and hoses with it and haven't had any issues thus far. I'm hoping it will still work well for this purpose when it's much, much colder.Even if not, this is a very versatile product. It's easy to wrap just about anything with it and I'm considering using it in my garden planter box greenhouse in the early spring to help defrost and warm the soil for early starting of seeds. I suspect it will work quite well.
