While these brake cables lack the refinement of other top name brands, they work well and as designed. On a couple of the brake cables, I needed to sand off or flake off tiny bits of tin that remained from the molding process. Other than that, it sure beats the heck out of paying $5 - $7 per cable at a local bike store.

These brake cables are very high quality and an incredible value. I verified that they are zinc-plated carbon steel using an XRF Analyzer which picked up zinc and iron and no chromium. The ends were perfectly welded to prevent fraying. The shipment was nicely packaged and arrived on time. I gave these a 4 star rating instead of 5 stars because the description indicates they cable material is stainless, which it is not. The original cables on the two bicycles I repaired were also zinc-plated carbon steel and only slightly tarnished on the one bike that is 28 years old.
