As a band teacher, I know the value of students swabbing their instruments--the pads will last MUCH longer (and it gets the germs too, I suppose!). Because lots of my students use school instruments, I try to provide the swabs with the school clarinets to make sure they have NO excuse for swabbing at the end of EVERY practice session.These worked well in our clarinets. As long as they're fully unfurled, they won't get stuck, and they do a good job of getting the moisture out and away from the pads. For saxophone, they're a bit on the small side, especially for the bell section (I tend to prefer the swabs with the soft foam pad under the chamois for saxophones). These are too big for flute & piccolo, so just use a strip of washcloth with the cleaning rod that should come with the flute.
