Reviewing: WelderElite 4" x 5/8" Grinding Discs for Angle Grinder Rust Paint Stripping Wheels, Metal & Wood Surface Cleaner-Black Between restorations, modifications and custom fabrications, I do a lot of metal work. I've used stripper discs ever since they came out with them because of how effective and efficient they are at cleaning any metal surface down to bare metal. Rust, paint, even epoxy is gone in seconds. I can't imagine ever going back to wire wheels (although I still use wire wheels to get into tight corners). A few pro-tips for using these discs:• Work from the center of a surface out to the edges - going from the edges in will wear these down much faster.• Let the tool do the work - use only a little pressure. The work will go faster, and the discs will last longer.• Don't try to get into tight corners with these discs - you'll only end up overheating them and leaving melted polymer swirls on top of the corner you didn't get clean, and (you guessed it) burn through the discs faster than necessary. I've been trying to figure out the different grits associated with the different colors, but I haven't found any definitive answers so it may be that the color and grit are not always related. That being said, these black discs do seem to be a bit softer material than the blue and purple ones I usually use.I hope this helps!

I find strip discs to be the most effective type of disc for removing paint, corrosion, and rust from metal. From time to time I'll buy a metal cabinet that someone is selling used and before painting it have to prep the metal. Strip discs don't last all that long in case you haven't used them before, so you're liable to only get a few projects from a single disk. These have a fiberglass spindle so they're pretty durable. The different colors actually mean something and you'll see these in purple, blue, green, black etc. But few of the manufacturers that sell these identify which are the most aggressive and which are least and so on. I wish the colors were standard and communicated. But I haven't noticed a tremendous difference between the colors and use them interchangeably. The price for these is a little bit high I think because you can get a packet like this of 4 1/2 inch disks for a little bit less per disk, but it's fair and I'd get them again.

These discs perform exceptionally well! They made removing paint and rust from my trailer much easier while prepping for repainting. Sturdy and effective, they get the job done with minimal effort. Definitely a great tool for restoration work!

As a DIYer I needed to remove some rust and then protect the area. These proved to be perfect. Mounted it in my grinder, wore my eye protection and went to town with it. I managed to remove the rust and complete the job in no time. If you never worked with a disk like this, watch a couple videos, practice a bit, and you’ll get the hang of it.They seem like it’ll last for much more than what I used it for, but I’m not a pro so it may take a long time until I find out. As a DIYer for occasional projects, these are perfect.

I just changed the belts on my 27 year old snowblower and noticed how rusty the whole machine has gotten. Once the winter is over I'm going to have to spend some time removing all that rust and repainting the whole thing so it'll last another few decades.I like this style of grinder wheels because they do a good job of quickly removing paint and rust without causing a lot of damage to the metal below. They should save me a lot of time and effort.These grinder wheels are 4 inches in diameter with a 5/8 inch arbor hole so they should fit most angle grinders reasonably well.

Stripper disks for grinders like these are amazing in general and this particular disk is as good as any. It's main attraction is that I received six for the price of five. I'm very happy with them. Recommended.
