For the price these are a solid 5 stars. If they were 50 bucks each, Id still give them at least 3 or 4 stars!I carve wood for a living, and rasps are my most used hand tools. I have a wall full of them of all different kinds from cheap to hand stitched French ones.So how do they cut? Not bad at all, especially for the price! The teeth are very consistant. None of those couple teeth just a bit higher than the rest. If you are familiar with the Dragon rasps, they are pretty much exactly the same as their coarse ones. They are also the same shape. The 8 "one is pretty much identical to the small Dragon rasp in size and shape. To compare to the fabled Nicholson 49 &50 they are wider, thinner, pointier, bit stiffer. They are as about aggressive as the older USA made 50 and leave a little nicer of a finish. If a storage case is important, the ones they come with are OK. I doubt Ill ever use them though.I would definately call them a second cut, meaning if you are planning on hogging off a lot of material, its gonna take a while using just this, so get yourself one of those $12 Nicholsons with the big ugly teeth to start with, and finish with these guys. You'll be ready for 120 sanding in hardwoods. There are a few things that would cause me to knock off a star if they were more expensive, but for the price I accept it.The handles are rubbery type plastic. I like a smoother wooden handle, and one day when I have nothing better to do, I'll probably make wooden ones. On the plus side they are on there solid and strait. They clog a bit. I've used them on hard maple, cherry, and walnut for a couple hours and tried them on white pine bit just a little. Keep a good stiff nylon brush handy and a couple swipes now and then and you'll be back in business. I have noticed that the clogging is diminishing a bit the more I use them. While these will will not replace anything for me, they have their place. They are great if you teach or do demonstrations where something can easily get lost, broken, or stolen. I Got them for my daughters and step sons so they dont have to wait for someone to get done with a rasp for them to use it and I dont worry about them dropping mine.Knowing what I know about these, I would not hesitate to buy them again!I am attaching a couple photos for comparison to other rasps in size and tooth pattern.Left to right with rasps pointing towards you Nicholson "Woodcraft", Nicholson 49, The 8" rasp being reviewed, Dragon rasp coarse, Auriou #10 grain, Dragon rasp fine, bastard file.

After balking at paying $50+ for a single "Dragon Rasp" on StewMac, I bought this set of rasps for shaping guitar bodies and necks. On soft to moderately hard woods (i.e., primarily western red cedar, poplar and maple), these rasps work like a charm and have remained effective throughout the build. I like that the set of the teeth is sufficiently loose that they can be cleaned out with a quick blast of compressed air. Will they last forever? Probably not, but they represent legitimately good value at their price point.

Seems like good rasps, fairly coarse for sure. Comfort grips are nice. Only issue are the "random" bag colors. All three of mine are identical. So, if you want to keep them in the bags, no way to tell what rasp you are grabbing. You have to feel, or cut windows into the bags.

In spite of the gaudy color, these wood rasps work quite well. The "teeth" are a bit smaller than some rasps I've used but they are aggressive enough to remove material with little effort, although to be fair, I've only used them on soft woods so far. The flat & curved sides on each rasp are very useful and the 3 different sizes are handy for different applications. I especially like the handles. They seem to be well attached and have comfortable, secure grips. Highly recommended.

This set of files are surprisingly excellent guilty for the money. there nice and long like they should be. I was a little concerned I'd get so short cheap set and the handles are as good as your going to get Very happy with my purchase. I believe they will last along time.

They are ok, good for fine work. Bought a narex and am happier with that. Certain applications I can see them working but they are so close in size it feels very redundant.

Excellent product, however the sheaths that the files are housed in are useless.
