Purchased rheostat to slow down the blower fan in a new natural gas fireplace. From the factory the fan ran at full rpm and made a high pitched whistle when it came on. The rheostat comes with two male connectors making the installation very easy/simple. Installation was completed within a few minutes and the worked very well. I dialed down the fan speed and got rid of the whistle. I was so pleased that I purchased a second rheostat to add to a different fireplace. Very pleased with the end results.

Wiring plugs had to be slightly changed to ‘plug and play’ but otherwise it replaced my worn out variable speed Blaze King stove switch just fine.

I removed one star because the product does not offer a choice of male or female connectors. My connectors did not match those of the product. I have to take a short wire install a male connector on one end and a female on the other so that the fan control could be attached.

Product came with threaded nut for installation but the shaft used to secure the unit was not threaded to accept the nut, rendering the unit uninstallable.

The fan on my fireplace was a bit loud on the fixed speed setting. I just wired this in series with the fan motor, and turned the speed down a bit to reduce the noise. I had a question that the seller answered promptly. Namely, there is a small trim pot accessed by a small hole on the side. They replied that it is adjusted at the factory, and needs no further adjustment.
