Tapered reamers should be way more common. Unlike step drills that don't work on anything thicker than sheet metal and still get dull cuz they have a tiny cutting edge, these things utilize their whole length as an active cutting edge, and can be used in thicker plate. Drill a pilot hole with a drill bit, and then start expanding it.

Used one time to open up the hole in a flat washer and edges were chipped and dulled. They looked beautiful in the package and on the website but were a miserable failure.

Only tried one size so far and worked great. Burnt old ones out on stainless steel. So got these new one. Remember cutting fluid to keep them cutting

Can argue with 4 reamers for the price of one from the tool truck. I've had no issue reaming truck frames etc.
