The Albion strawberry plants are an everbearing strawberry. They produce large berries with a beautiful, bright red coloring, inside and out. They are firm and of conical shape. The Albion has a delicious, sweet taste making it a popular choice among market growers. They are great fresh, in pies and they freeze well too. Albion plants grow quickly to about 12 inches long and produce 1-3 pints per plant. Additionally, these strawberries show resistance to Verticillium wilt and Phytophthora crown rot.

These were shipped to me in the DEAD of winter! They arrived very fast with 28 plants, some have little green tops with a small leaf or bud. They were wrapped nicely with a small card containing CLEAR, DIRECT directions along with an email address should you have further questions, comments, complications etc. The price here in California for a small seedling is roughly $6-7 depending on where you go. My plants arrived today and I will update on growth later BUT even if 1/2 survive it’s still a major savings. HOWEVER, they all look healthy and I expect my outcome to be far superior than that. I have no mushy roots, none are dry or brittle, none look dead, as I said multiple are leafy! I plan to order another variety pending them liking my altitude- I’m in the mountains of Central California zone 9b. I do have several areas I plan to try them in to find the best fit! And of course they are starting in my greenhouse since it’s freezing here! Will update soon! But if you’re on the fence I’d go for it!

Waited to give these berries a chance before reviewing. First of all, these bare roots arrived in excellent condition. I love, love, love strawberries and was excited at the prospect of having fresh berries with the dew still on them, anytime I want. But the Miserable Weather Gods (MWGs) were not having it. I put the berries in the ground as soon as I got them, fertilized them, played classical music, read to them from Leaves of Grass, and watered them with the purest water I could produce with my inline filter. Yet, all this plant pampering was doomed by the MANY days of unrelenting heat. One particular stretch was 30 days of over 100 F (almost 38 Celsius!)DAYAM! That's hot no matter who you are.Poor berries toughed it out, but didn't produce many blooms. Only a couple of precious berries, no matter what I did, including watering them multiple times per day. There's a reason that not much grows in the desert (HINT: It's the freaking heat!) and we turned into the desert where I live. The good news, though, is that the hot days are nearly over and the berry vines are spreading. I even got one or two delicious berries. If I over-winter these lovely plants, they may well produce a bumper crop by December or January. YAY! Great tasting, good for you and fun to grow if you don't live in a zone of unforgiving heat. (If you DO- cover with a sun cloth and water profusely. That might help.)

I ordered 20 Albion strawberry rootstock plants. They were delivered quickly and came with directions on how to prepare them for planting. I placed mine in an ebb and flow system and all 20 survived. They almost immediately started blooming. However, I pruned the flowers back to promote vegetation. The plants are growing well and have started sending out runners. I have even been able to root a few of the runners and transplant them outside. Now that the temps are starting to drop, I expect them to start flowering again.

The bare roots are longer than I expected, (some of them over a foot long) and I received them in just a few days. They arrived undamaged and still nice and moist inside the envelope. I received 27 total bare roots and planted them the day I received them, and within 24 hours 22 of the plants had already shown a starter leaf, and by 48 hours every plant has shown signs of growth. I hope the plants will be full and have a good yield but will update this review if I have issues with any of the plants dying after some time has passed. Highly recommended!

Plopped these guys into my hydroponic tower and all but I think 3 of them rooted and are still thriving. Working on the second harvest now, rooted a half dozen of the runners already. Great, healthy plants!

Ordered 25 strawberries, received only 23. So far only 17 are growing, remaining 6 appear to be all root, no sign sprouting plant. I reached out to the seller who agreed to send 2 more, but has not address the ones with missing crown, only stating to plan them and give it time. I am still waiting for the missing 2 and for 6 more to sprout. If this reviewed is not updated then the issue has not been resolved
