I ordered these in the hopes that they would fit my Park Seed Biodome. At first they looked too small and I was worried but once they soak up water they are the perfect size and I actually like them even better than the ones you could get from Park Seed and they're cheaper and I get prime shipping so I will absolutely be ordering these from now on. As you can see in the photos they are porous enough for roots to grow through but sturdy and don't rip apart when you're trying to get them out of the tray wet like the others were prone to do. Highly recommend, and based on other reviews they fit other systems as well.

Pods work great! no different than the ones supplied by Aerogarden.

They are smaller but after soaking in water for a while, they fit in the aerogarden. They seem to be denser than other pods but hopefully they still work the same.

The overall growth with these sponges were compared by setting them side by side with the Aerogarden sponges using four brassica species, lettuce, and curly cress in a 12 pod growth deck of a Farm model. The root density and top growth of each vegetable were clearly superior with these sponges over the first two weeks. Better overall vigor.Earlier I had said:>The more formed, regular shape is nice, but these do not expand to the opening of the label collars in the regular growing baskets. They are a better fit for the seedstarting decks of the Aerogrow systems. In both cases, they cause formation of more algae than the standard Aerogrow sponges. (I place the ungummed labels over the sponges when seed starting too, and the difference is observed there is even more convincing of the difference). In this regular 12-pod use for growing plants from start to harvest, these replacement sponges were better.

I use these just for seed starting, and move the seedlings elsewhere when the seedlings are about 1" high. They only fit small seeds. I'll know by the end of the year how well the sponges break down in the soil. They fit the sponge holders in my two different hydroponic counter-top systems. Will be buying more next year.

As a few other commenters have noted, these sponges are incredibly dense. I have two AeroGarden Bounty units. As a test, I pricked out seedlings and transplanted half into the original AeroGarden sponges, and half into these. I soaked both sponges before transplanting and cut them about halfway down the length to make placing the plants easier. Two weeks later, the plants in the original AeroGarden are uniformly about 3x the size. I was worried these were too dense for young roots, and the experiment bore that out exactly. It is so bad that I threw out the remaining 50 of them to make sure I don’t use them accidentally in the future.Maybe certainly plants will do OK in these sponges, but I would not recommend them based on my experience.
