So after struggling trying to remove an oil filter that had been on a car parked for 12 years decided to order this unit. It arrived in a neat little package with all the parts included (adapter for different size ratchet drives). It's a solid piece and it's designed well. Really like the magnetic holder that keeps the unit attached to the oil filter so you don't have to struggle to keep it on while turning. Reduces frustration and the amount of colorful language. Using the larger socket drive input with a universal joint attached to a breaker bar it was easy to position the unit in a very tight spot. After saying a prayer and expecting the worst - applied very evenly centered torque and the stuck oil filter immediately released!!! As you can see from the pictures the oil filter was pretty mangled from the attempts to remove it previous to using this unit. The distorted filter posed absolutely no problem for the unit and it didn't slip one bit on the oil filter. Highly recommend this unit especially for oil filters placed in unholy tight spots designed by engineers with absolutely no field experience! Buy it - you won't regret it.

I have tried and owned at least 8 or 9 other oil filter removal tools, and this ARES 56028 Universal Oil Filter Wrench is the absolute BEST. If you have a stubborn oil filter that seems impossible to remove, THIS tool will get the job done! Every other oil filter wrench I've used either slips, bends, or is otherwise useless. This ARES 56028 Oil Filter Wrench TIGHTLY GRIPS the filter with metal teeth, and the filter comes off with no problem at all. After I used this tool a few times, I threw away every other oil filter wrench I owned. Generally, oil filters should not be tightened so much that they can't be removed somewhat easily, but when you do run into one that's a real bugger, this ARES oil filter wrench works every single time. The tool is of good quality, very reasonably priced, and very much recommended!

It grabs the filter. Gets the job done. Not as good as the correct size wrench.

It can be a little awkward to get on the filter, but once on, it worked great. Very solid, too. It fits in places other wrenches would not. Definitely a must have for any shade tree car tinkerer.

Needed a filter wrench that would work and easy to use. Glad I bought it…

If you have a brand new Honda Goldwing and are thinking about doing your own oil changes you'll need this tool. The OEM filter is on so tight that a normal cup-type filter wrench will likely just round the bottom of the filter and not budge. Get this thing. Makes quick work of getting the filter off and is a lot stronger than the type with the three fingers (I broke one of those in my attempts at removing the filter). This thing was no sweat.

Its almost IMPOSSIBLE to remove a OEM Filter from a Brand New Ford Vehicle. Its almost like they put the filter on at the factory with an Impact wrench. I had to use this to remove the Filter from my 2024 Ford Maverick for its first oil change. The OEM was on So dang tight. It would NOT come off with a strap type filter wrench. This took it off NO PROBLEM. Will use it from now on for filter changes. But it is a necessity for OEM first oil changes.

Not bad for the price, little to big though. Need something smaller for VW's...

Got this little gadget to simplify oil changes on my Subaru SUV. Snapped the filter wrench on my 3/8 inch Ratchet and it made quick work of removing an overtightened oil filter. Light, well made… definitely recommended.
