This is a great economical alternative to weathering powders. I grind the chalks down to a powder and apply with brushes.

I was happy to find some earth tones like this, because we use earth tones for a lesson showing the different colors of students in the class. These pastels worked fine, but they are very dusty and left huge dusk clouds in our classroom. The dust settled on the kid's pictures and changed the colors they intended to use. When I modeled using the pastels on the board, large plumes of dust came down and colored in my picture where I didn't want it. You can see this in the photo. The photo shows the use of Earth Tone pastels and Crayola pastels (which I prefer)I wouldn't buy these again. They need to have something that shows the difference between the Earth tone ones which are dusty and dry, and other pastels which are solid and thick. I wasn't thrilled.

I love these chalks for the sole use on my Ceramic Wildlife figurines. I can blend my colors and make my wildlife so true to real life. Nothing else blends as well for perfection. The Earth tones give you extra Browns and Yellows to mix for many of our Wildlife colors such as the Pronghorn, Mountain Lion, and even our Cottontail.
