Exactly what I was looking for: a dry, defined sound in a smaller diameter. This cymbal rocks!

this is a very controlled, low-volume ride that fits nicely with my microkit and small crash cymbals. it's very dry, focused, and has a TON of stick articulation. I'm often playing in small rooms, so i need a more stick attack and less wash, and this ride is perfect for that. It's very cool looking: unlathed and unpolished and looks like someone in an industrial shop made a cymbal out of scrap metal just for the hell of it!Downside is that it doesn't have that rich sound that some more refined cymbals have, but iIve tried a bunch of lovely sounding rides that have way too much wash once the volume comes up.Most drummers would probably want this as a secondary ride. it's a nice voice that fits between hi-hats and tradtional rides. If you have a small kit, you might really like it!

I bought the Zildjian Uptown Ride in 2020, seeking a drier ride cymbal with very little wash and a strong ping, and more importantly a more controlled volume and spread. The cymbal comes factory aged with a rustic patina that will definitely add a vintage vibe to your kit.The cymbal was not packed well though, it was kept in its thin plastic Zildjian carry bag and only wrapped in a layer of bubble wrap.UPDATE: 2022, Spending 2 years with the Uptown Ride, I realised this cymbal turned out, not to be as versatile as I wanted. The lack of wash was an issue for playing jazz and could only be slightly mitigated by draping some chain across the cymbal bow, from the wingnut. I would not suggest this cymbal to Rock/Metal drummers, as it is not powerful enough to cut through the distorted guitars, due to the lower volume of its 18†size.I ended up selling the Uptown Ride and upgrading to a regular K 20" ride, which fits every musical situation for me.
