About this item

  • [Component]: Complete tenkara kit includes 8 items. A tenkara rod, A 12ft tenkara tapered furled line, 4pcs of tenkara flies, A tenkara line keeper, 3 pcs of tenkara hook keeper, 100ft fluorocarbon tippet, A multi function clipper, A protective rod cap.
  • [Affordable Beginner Kit and Backup Kit]: All accessories you need are included. Shorter rod lengths can be easier for younger or less experienced anglers to handle. Friendly to fresh tenkara anglers. An affordable spare rod will ensure you a pleasant fishing trip with no regrets and disappointment.
  • [24T Carbon Fiber]: 24T carbon fiber rod blank would be strong, durable and sensitive while remaining lightweight. Besides, this material also endows the rod with medium-fast action. This can improve casting accuracy and distance.
  • [Ideal for Tight Spaces]: 7ft and 8ft rod lengths guarantee you fish in tight spaces like narrow streams or creeks, in areas with dense trees or shrubs without worrying about getting snagged or tangled.
  • [Nice Gift]: We set three color options, green, light blue and pink. If you are preparing a gift for a tenkara beginner, this is a good choice!

At initial inspection the rod looks ok for a cheap Tenkara rod. This is not the same quality level as higher end Japanese rods that I have, but will be great to leave in the truck for those random fishing occasions.I immediately checked that the tip would not get stuck like many other reviewers have mentioned. I did not have that issue. I was to the impression that the rods came with extra tip sections. Unfortunately only one of two I ordered came with an extra tip. Thus a star deduction from the start. Will update once I can get them out to fish with.EDIT: Updated review with additional star as I contacted seller and they made it right, without any problems.

A lil funky to get used to landing fish without a reel but a nice starter to learn with with out over paying. A easy choice to purchase to try a new fishing style out. Lightweight, easy to pack, good value for cost, performs as expected which it catches fig, cast well and is sturdy.

You can spend a lot of money on tenkara rods these days but you don’t need to. This is the third tenkara rod I have purchased from Aventik and I’ll likely be offloading some of my more expensive ones. I paired this rod with a tapered mono line and it casts extremely well. The action feels great and I’d say it’s definitely a true 6:4. As with all tenkara rods, they’re very simple and easy to use. You do need to be careful with the tip while attaching your line to the lillian but that is the same with all tenkara rods. So far it is very durable and comes with a very solid pvc tube, soft rod sock and spare tip plus second section. Overall it is a wonderful rod for the money and I don’t think anyone would go wrong with this purchase.

Unfortunately these seem to be of lower quality compared to what you can find in the same price range on Amazon. They feel cheap and look kinda shoddy. I'll keep it around to use as a very small ultralight backpacking rod for blueline streams, but I'm not expecting it to last very long. Flexing it feels sketchy. It is nice that they send an extra tip/lillian segment, so there's a bit of value there.I recommend looking elsewhere on Amazon for a competing item.

This was my intro into tenkara. I’ve taken it out several times and it works well for what it is. I had trouble with my homemade level line not a true “tenkara line”, a furled line was better and as a beginner I’ve found pvc line to cast the easiest with about 3 ft of tippet. It’s an odd style to learn especially landing a fish. I recommend a little net and get some decent flies. I recently added a 12’ rod, as I liked the challenge and style so much in only 3-4 outings. For the price it’s good to go. Even the tip swivels like more expensive rods. Plenty of flex but still able to set the hook. This will be my back up rod now or go to my kid and rig it up Keiryu style for live bait on a tiny trout stream we fish.I just ease each section out and slide them back in opposite fashion. If you get rough I’d guess you could tear it up or any tenkara rod up easily.

I got this rod last summer to play with while hiking with my kids. Overall, I've been very happy with this kit and plan to use it a lot more this summer. One downside to the kit (that is easy to overcome) is a lack of "tackle box", but a small tin or box works just fine as a pocket fishing kit. Great rod for a beginner fly fishing and compact enough for a day hike.

Received it, (not my first time using a telescoping rod or tenkara), extended it in my living room to see its action. Great, I’m happy, now let’s slide it back and get back to work since everything looks good. The top section does not collapse. All other sections do. So I try gingerly to push it in, no luck, trying everything I can think of, without forcing it. Since of course I don’t want to break it. After about 1/2 an hour I finally try a little more pressure and snap. It broke. Inside it is ruined and of no use, I tried collapsing it in any way possible, not caring if I put more pressure than necessary since it’s broken and useless now! Still, has not collapsed, the top section is still stuck no matter how much I try, grease, soap, pressure etc does not work.

Hooked a tree and the rod broke before the 3.74lb line did. This is obviously not right and the line should have broke way before the rod did.

The bottom sections of the rod are made of what seems to be aluminum. It's not fiberglass or carbon fiber as mentioned in the description. Only the few last tip sections are carbon fiber. This explains why this rod is heavier and cheaper than other Aventik tenkara rods. The Amazon explanation isn't very clear. It does seem to be a decent beginner tenkara rod. I might keep it and offer it to my mom or kids.
