How to choose the right bandsaw blades

  • The narrower the blade in width (or depth), the tighter the cut radius possible and therefore, it's more suited to curve-work.
  • The wider the blade, the easier to maintain a straight cut and therefore more suitable to straight cuts and resaw work.
  • The less teeth per inch, the more aggressive the cut, more effective the chip/swarf clearance, and is therefore more suited to deeper stock or cutting with the long fibres of the grain.
  • Curve-cutting blades often have six or more teeth per inch. The more teeth per inch, the smoother the finished cut and less tear out when cutting across the grain.

Previously I use to purchase band saw blades from a well known manufacturer only to find them snapping prematurely at the braze joints. So I decided to try these blades and have found they to be extremely sharp cutting thick hardwoods with no issues, long lasting and easy to track at a much lower price. Great product at an amazing price!

These blades were improperly coiled to make them fit into a plastic bag that was too small. As a result, they have kinks in the blade that will cause them to wobble when mounted on the bandsaw. I have tried to straighten the bends, but I can't smooth them out perfectly. Wish I had taken a pic so you could see what I mean.Massive amount of oil covering the blades. Yes, they are carbon steel so they can rust, so I understand the need for a light coat of lube, but this was ridiculous. On the plus side, the welds are amazingly clean. (But makes me worry if they will hold up.) I haven't used a blade yet. If my opinion changes, I'll update my review.UPDATE: I've used one of these blades and it cuts like a champ. The kinks in the blades seem to have worked themselves out. Weld is holding so far. This blade is on a Jet bandsaw in use at a MakerSpace, so it's not getting pampered. Upped my rating to four stars (packaging and excessive oil still an issue.)

I found these blades have a very thin kerf over standard band saw blades which makes effortless scroll cuts.

These band saw blades fit my old 1984 Grizzly bandsaw. Good general purpose blade for this size machine at a good price. Bought two more for my Son.

I purchased these to fit on my 14" Delta Bandsaw. I have purchased other more expensive brand name blades and I always find them breaking at the weld joint area after only a few minutes of use. This blade has lasted far longer than any of the other blades I have used. It cuts nice and straight and the weld area is nice and smooth and hardly needed any dressing before using. I have already order 1/2" blades to go with these. The only issue I have is the way the company folds its blades for packaging. The blade comes out of the package with a tight bend and this needs to be straightened before use. they really just need to coil the blade the normal way evert body else does to eliminate this problem.

At first glance the blades appear to be a good quality, although the thinner blade arrived with a kink due to poor packaging. We were able to straighten out the blade and so far it seems to be working ok for what i needed it for. (would have cost me more to package and return than it was worth so figured we would try to straighten it out). Overall i think i would buy these again.
