Quality: Solid brass construction with quarter-turn shutoff that is well designed and fits several mounting scenarios. The threaded portion of the hose bib that mounts to the tank may not be long enough for thicker bulkheads.Functionality: The unit comes with all the hardware necessary to mount onto the tank, including two gaskets, a bib, and a nut to attach the bib to the tank. The quarter-turn shutoff is stiff, easy to operate, and does not leak when closed. The outlet side of the bib fits a standard garden hose.I used this hose-bib to allow easy filling and emptying of a 50-gallon tank for flushing my saltwater outboard motor. But I can see many other uses for the hose-bib. You will need a female-to-female coupler to attach a standard garden hose. Considering the price and quality of the unit, this is a good deal.

Lots of photos for how to install this into a 55g blue barrel (none were provided). I was initially confused how to do this since the barrel was sealed, but it all makes sense now (including why the rope is provided).Steps1. Drill 1 1/4" hole into bottom of barrel. I used a hole saw on my electric drill to do this.2. Open one of the caps (bungs). You'll need a bung wrench. I bought this from Amazon as well.3. Separate the brass pieces into 3 parts.4. Drop one part of the string with a weight attached. I used a loose nut I had sitting around (not included).5. Fetch the string out the bottom hole (while still holding the top).6. Thread the brass male collar (with the threads) onto the rope. Note, this thread is reverse.7. Fetch the collar on the other side of the rope. YOu'll need a finger to pull it through the hole.8. Apply the white tape to the threads (3 loops). Attach the other half of the collar (note, it's reverse thread so turn counter-clockwise). Tighten as tight as you can without warping the rubber gasket. I used a wrench.9. Thread the tap with the white tape, then thread it through the collar (turn clockwise). Get it to point down.TADA!

Make sure you debur the hole you cut. I can see that being a problem. Don't over tighten either.

I used this for my rain barrel. A little confusing on what the sting was for. But fortunately my granddaughter fit nicely in the barrel and could put the spigot in place and had fun helping.M
