This solder fume extractor has been a game-changer in my basement electronics lab. It does an excellent job of pulling fumes away while I’m soldering, keeping the air much cleaner and making my workspace more comfortable. The fan is powerful yet quiet, which is perfect for longer sessions without distractions. The setup was simple, and it’s compact enough to fit in my workspace without taking up too much room. If you’re working on electronics in a smaller or enclosed area, this extractor is a must-have for safe and comfortable soldering. Highly recommend it for anyone serious about electronics!

This does a good job of keeping the smoke out of your face so you don't have to breathe the fumes while soldering, but it doesn't really absorb too much of the smoke and smell, it just blows them somewhere else. The filters for this are just too coarse and open to absorb all the fumes into the carbon coating, if they were this extractor would not draw enough air through it to capture the smoke. As it is this can redirect all the smoke from your soldering job from about 7 inches away or less and blow it somewhere else if you are working on something that is low on the bench. At 8 inches away, some of the smoke will miss getting sucked into the filter, and at 10 inches almost all of it will miss the filter. If the fume extractor is directly behind your work and you are working on a board that is raised up above the bench, you need to have the extractor closer to the work. The distance away from the work surface can be improved by placing this higher above and tilting it to face down towards your work. The stand it comes with is sturdy and strong enough, but it is a bit low and limited in its range of motion. If the stand was a bit taller and more adjustable, it would be easier to get this placed so that it would do a better job of collecting the smoke and fumes. One thing I really like is that the design of this fume extractor is such that it uses a standard square fan, like a computer case fan. This means that the fan is easily replaceable when it wears out, and could also be replaced with a fan of a different voltage to make it battery powered if needed. For example replacing the 120V AC fan with a 12V DC fan.

This is a really great few extractor and I should've had this a long time ago, but I haven't really soldered much lately until I took up ham radio. Glad to have it now.

I got this BK493 Solder Fume Extractor isn't quite what I thought it would be. This Extractor does take the fumes away from where you are working but, really just goes out the back. The fan isn't that strong and takes a little for it to suck it away. I was hoping for a little more suction power. It does have legs for stands and is a little off the work area. Size is decent. Also has a handle for carrying.Price is a little more than I would expect. Would have been nice to have a more powerful fan.PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION.

This thing is great! Pulling it out of the package it feels sturdy and well made. It comes with 3 carbon filters which is super nice, usually companies cheap or and only give you one filter. As far as the functionality goes out and to work very well. I tested it with both my small portable laser and with soldering and it did great at extraction of smoke and keeping it out of my face and no smoke seemed to come out of the exhaust. It is also pretty quiet when running. I'm so glad I have one of these now it's gives you great piece of mind. I hope the build quality translates to longevity!

This is a really nice fume extractor, it's great for soldering work on your table if you're adding components to a circuit board or something like that, I wouldn't recommend this for run and gun soldering like LED strip work

Good for redirecting fumes from soldering and similar work, so that you aren't breathing them in. It doesn't really filter or make the smell go away, it's more that it directs fumes away from where you are working/actively breathing, and enables them to dissipate.
