Silicon Bronze is an alternative filler used for TIG and gas welding. I don't have room here to describe the characteristics or its entire usage, but it is typically used when welding temperatures need to be held down somewhat and the base metals are compatible. This includes copper alloys and normal carbon steels to include coated steels and sheet metal. This item covers the usage well. The size (1/16" diameter..) is well adapted to most common usage, and the amount of the filler in this package is well suited to most jobs.The quality of this SILBRZ filler is quite good. In use, I can find no issues with it as far as uniformity and no apparent impurities. The filler flows well, bonds well, and forms a nice bead (when used by a competent welder..).The one downside to this filler and indeed to any filler of an alternative nature is the cost. This is a relatively expensive filler rod compared to normal application fillers. However, that is to be expected and the price is not hidden from purchasers, so it presents no particular problem with respect to this item.If you have a need for an alternative filler where a conventional filler rod is not the best solution, then this item may be exactly what you need. Be certain about the compatibility with your base metal, then purchase with confidence.Good product with no perceivable issues.

I specifically bought this rod for brazing 4130 chromoly and have also used it to braze EMT Conduit. I used powdered flux. I took a sledge hammer to a sample of both which resulted in great deformity but I couldn't break the parts apart.

It works great , It is filler rod so no much you can say other than melts like it should and is clean when you get it also comes in a nice plastic tube for storage that you can see through to see if you need to order more . I have about 15 different tubes of different types just because you always need that one stick of that one kind to do a job.

Love Blue Demon welding products. I am new to TIG welding and these combined with there tungsten, melt like butter, reminds me of brazing with oxy-acetylene when i first started working on custom cars 30+ years ago.

I made a couple tests with this brazing rod on my TIG setup. Since brazing uses a lower temperature, you may need an adjustable hood or a lower level lens. I had a hard time seeing my work using my regular welding hood. Otherwise, I was satisfied with the quality of the puddle and the finished braze.

Rods are not individually labelled with a flag or stamp. Don't get them mixed up with anything else.
