It does exactly as it says it does. It heats the bilge area just enough to keep from freezing. It’s reasonably small (400w) and appears to be made very well. Acceptable hmmmmm when it’s running and so far has kept the bilge from freezing during a week of some 20 degree weather. I might get another for a Waverunner bilge and engine area.

This worked just like advertised. It was delivered promptly, we had a hard freeze and no time to winterize our engine. This saved the block from freezing. It’s excellent.

We use it under our RV. Our water lines run only in the middle of our RV. We built a smaller basement to make it so it only had to heat a smaller area. Even before we built that area it was keeping the water filtration system from freezing. 29 foot x 8foot area under our RV at 13 degrees it did great. I only made the smaller room for when we hit negative temps.

Our RV garage in winter is typically 47 degrees of above. We store our 21’ boat in garage and this year we did not winterize it assuming the temperature would remain above freezing.Prior to going on a weeks vacation I checked the garage temperature gave and it was at 35 degrees with the temperature dropping. I checked the boat’s engine compartment and the engine was right around 34 degrees. I wrapped the engine in a large blanket and put a floor radiant heater on the floor near the engine and outdrive area.My wife did a quick search on Amazon and we found this heater. Amazon delivered it in two days, just in time as the deep freeze hit. I set it up in a safe spot in the engine compartment and plugged it in. I disconnected the portable heater. OMG, the temperature in the engine compartment came up to 60 degrees in about 2 hours. I checked on it for the next two days prior to leaving on vacation and it was keeping the engine compartment at 55-60 degrees. The outside temperatures during the following two days were a low of 14 and high of 24. The heater did its job as designed. I just checked it after 1 week and the green light is back on and the heater off. The temperature in the engine compartment is a comfortable 60 degrees. Note, our temperatures in winter seldom get into the 20’s and usually are mid thirties and above. I would never have suspected our RV garage to dip as cold as it did. After living here since 2003, I was surprised at this extreme weather pattern. This product is excellent. It’s rugged, easy to set up and durable. I know this heater saved my boat engine from freezing. Money well spent.

We bought this heater to put in the engine compartment of our 25 foot tritoon. Prior to using this heater, we just put 2 light bulbs in the compartment which typically produced just enough heat. However, after an unusual cold snap, our light bulbs didn’t do the trick and our engine block cracked. We spent upwards of $15,000 in repairs! I ordered this heater over a year and ago and it has kept our engine compartment warm! Wish I had purchased it sooner!

This is a preliminary review of the Xtreme Small 400w Heater. It is being installed in the back compartment of our RV that houses the incoming water line, fresh water tank & pump. During winter months I’ve suspected that the compartment doesn’t stay warm enough to keep the water line from freezing overnight. Even though it’s insulated fairly well it still gets cold during 20 degrees and below weather. The heater appears to be a good solution for keeping this area warm and protecting the water line. The unit is well built and small enough to fit most places. After the initial installation and turning it on the fan sounded like a jet ramping up. I decided to open it up and replace the fan. The front / rear panels are held in place with pop rivets. Effective but cheesy. I drilled out the 6 rivets on the rear panel to access the fan. It was held in place by four screws. I purchased a Coolerguys 80x80x38mm 115V Bare Wire High Speed EC Fan that fit perfectly. Instead of using pop rivets to reattach the rear panel I tapped the holes with a #6 thread and used button head Allen screws with a drop of locktite. After getting it installed in the RV and turning it on with the new fan I couldhardly even it hear it.Overall the unit is robustly made but seems overpriced for what itis. The obnoxiously loud fan and the pop rivets certainly are disappointing.Once the winter sets in and the opportunity to see how it performsan updated review will be added.

This product has high reviews for a number of reasons. First, our boat, 25 ft. Sea Ray is docked during the winter in our boat house in North Texas. We do enjoy using our boat during nice winter weather and prefer not to winterize our boat. This product is placed in the engine compartment to keep the cooling water in the engine from freezing. The heater turns on automatically when the temperature is below 40 deg F and maintains the compartment temperature high enough to prevent engine and bilge compartment. The heater is safe to use in a closed compartment where fuel vapors may be present. We do add fuel stabilizer in the winter and trim down our out drive to drain the water from the lower unit to prevent freeze damage. Very satisfied with the product which pays for itself in a year compared to on dock boat winterization services. The heater must have a continuous 110 V electrical supply to function. Very satisfied with this high quality marine grade heater.

I'm in a motorhome, with two separated 15 amp circuits. I bought this unit for my 'basement', to keep my lithium batteries warm- thinking it would be safer to use than the cheaper space heaters I've been using for the past couple of years. I have NEVER had an issue with the amperage draw on the old space heaters- when they come on, they keep to a consistent wattage of about 600. This allows me a buffer of about 1000 to 1200 watts to run the necessary electric heater inside the motorhome- I put it on medium, and things have worked out just great. But, not with this heater. It rook me a while to realize why my circuit breaker keeps kicking out- it's because this heater goes from 0 watts, to 3.75, to 1000, to 680, to 1040, to 480... it's just all over the place, and this means it needs it's own dedicated circuit, even though I chose this particular wattage unit to prevent just that. for most people looking at this heater- in a motorhome, trailer, or boat- we all have circuit / amperage limitations- this heater is not only VERY expensive- it fails. Of course, the warranty is long up, as it wasn't cold enough to have it kicking in when I bought it.. so now I have a very expensive paperweight. Please, save your money- do not buy, unless you have a separate circuit just for this heater. (my heater- supposedly 600 watts)
