This is shorter than those having a removable screen which works well for my stream withdrawal. The holes are too large for withdrawal from a stream but simply ziplocking some window screen around it makes it work fine. So far am impressed with it especially at the price.

This item is solid brass and should do very well. I am pumping from a lake and some foot valves have a fine ss screen that gets clogged with algae and restricts the water flow, not a problem with this because of the larger holes and made from brass.

I was having trouble with a leaking foot valve so I went a different direction and tried this valve. It not only has larger holes, it has a larger valve diameter. Upon installation I had to readjust my sprinkler heads because it was pushing out more water farther than previously. It’s been working great for months now and since it’s nice and heavy I haven’t had any issues

I bought a Harbor Freight two inch semi-trash pump to drain excess water out of my 21 foot deep cistern. The intake hose had a standard open strainer on the end. The first time I used it, it took almost an hour to prime that pump, trying to fill that two inch hose and lifting the water 16 feet vertically. Because I had to repeat that about every month, I dreaded doing that again. So, I got the idea of putting a two inch foot valve on the suction end of the intake hose instead of the standard strainer. I put the hose in the well and positioned the HF pump. I used a garden hose to fill the 20 foot intake hose, attached it to the pump, filled the pump housing with water, screwed the filled cap in and started the motor. Hallelujah!!! Water started flowing immediately at full force! And it kept its prime when I stopped the pump and restarted it later! Great product! Saved a LOT of time!

Definitely a quality product. For my application the holes are a little large because mine is in a lake and feeding my Rainbird yard sprinkler and debris can stop up sprinkler heads. I kept anyway and just put screw wire over it and zip tied it to the valve head. Don't think it will ever rust. MM Hot Springs.

Works as hoped. Installed this at the end of intake hose at the bottom of my shallow bore (replaced different type of foot valve). Pump now holds its prime perfect!
