Very well made collar. Held up great, until i ran over it and broke the “snap/buckle†but thats not the seller’s fault just my stupidity. Will buy again!Only thing i did not like about the collar, and this is a “fault†I see in almost every other collar of this type, is the chain portion is too heavy and large for a quick and responsive correction/feedback. I lighter/smaller chain would allow for a quicker and easier correction from my experience.

It’s so hard to find a collar like this in my area even with all the different pet stores around. This is a great product, you don’t have to put 2 different collars on your dog , or worry about it being harmful to your dog as well. When you use just a regular collar it always pulls off their neck when they pull you while walking, and if you use a regular choke chain it can damage their throat or esophagus because it’s a solid chain where as these collars have a material that when pulled comes together and the chain doesn’t squeeze their neck the material serves the purpose of the choke chain without harm. Collar Direct is the company that you want to go to for your dogs collar needs. These collars are hand made and nicely stitched, and could easily be a great training collar for your dog. The collar being reflective and easy to snap off and on is that extra professional touch that the company also added to help protect our pet while being outdoors. The collar could be just a little bit stronger for pet owners with larger or stronger dogs. I myself will never use another brand of collar other than “Collar Direct,†unless I have to, but now that I know how to find this brand of collar and it has the effect of a regular collar and a choke chain collar all in one, I’ll definitely go to their website and order my collars from them!!!! Collar Direct is my choice!!!!

So I bought 2 of these. One for my 55lb Pit Bull/Australian Shepherd mix and my 65lb German Shepherd. The one for my pit mix works great and love the idea of a locking mechanism. My German Shepherd however jerked hers and the ring bent and it came apart. I plan on finding something to work as a different ring and still use the collar.

We switched to this, and our dog is now a pleasure to walk! It has made SUCH a difference in our lives, because he just pulled so hard that it was impossible for me to walk him and my husband was beginning to have problems with his hips because of the pulling. I would recommend this collar to EVERYONE!!!!!!

This collar broke and my dog ran away. He was hit by a car and died. The reason I bought this collar is because it was supposed to be safe for dogs that are prone to escape. He was a rescue and we knew that if he got off leash, that we would not be able to retrieve him. We had the false sense of security that this collar would keep him safe. My dog would still be alive if this collar had not malfunctioned. Would’ve given zero stars if I was able.

this is a good collar for most dogs who might be slightly smarter than most dogs, but if you have a husky I suggest a different collar because the locking feature is made of plastic and not strong enough to withstand the willpower of a husky that wants to escape.

I am very pleased with the CollarDirect Martingale Dog Collar. I have it adjusted so that it easily slips over the head of my dog. This makes it easy to remove and put on the dog when needed. The choke chain portion of the collar sends a quick message to the dog that they should not pull on the lease. It only took my dog one time of chasing after a squirrel and be caught up by the choke chain portion to teach the dog not to yank or pull hard on the lease. I find this collar very humane and probably is a lot more comfortable for the dog as it is not tight around her neck. These collars seem to be quite durable.I have two of these collars because when I remove the collar, I don't always remember where I put it, so the second one is used. Of course, I blame all of this on the dog. Who else should I blame?

The fabric part of the collar and clip are both sturdy, but the chain and rings are definitely not stainless steel. I have several Herm Sprenger chains and could instantly tell the difference. Hopefully she grows into them soon so I can throw this one away. Shipping is too expensive to bother returning it.

This collar was purchased for a dog that needs extra control due to aggression issues. It was used less than 10 times. On the last occasion, when the dog lunged towards another dog the chain on the collar broke. Luckily the lead was also clipped onto another collar so the dog could not get away but if this collar had been relied on alone, the result could have been disastrous. Martingale collars were designed for extra control, this one is not fit for purpose.
