I got these for my daughter who started the clarinet this year. They have worked well and been durable to her handling and beginner care. So far i am pleased with these.

Have played clarinet for decades, not a beginner, but not a pro. While I understand a 2.0 is considered a beginner reed and the concept of moving to a higher strength / stiffness reed for better tone quality, I play casually and the people listening wouldn't know the difference. So unless the Boston symphony calls me for an audition, I won't worry about going to a 4.0 and will stick with the Rico 2.0 ... LOL =)

Great for someone who is a beginner or getting back into playing. No problems and would recommend to anyone looking for reeds.

My daughter is starting the clarinet this fall in 6th grade. I wanted her to get a headstart over the summer and got her some lessons. These reeds are great for beginners. Beginners will break a lot of them, so no reason to go with more expensive brands. The #2 are very easy to get sound with. Her instructor thinks 2.5 is better for beginners, but I myself played clarinet for 15 years and tried these and find them easier to play with less effort. Rico has been around forever and is known for good quality reeds.

The last time I purchased a Rico clarinet reeds I paid 25 cents a reed. I was told the price for 10 Rico reeds was an excellent and since I play for my enjoyment the 10 reeds will last me a long time. When I need any more reeds I will buy only Rico reeds because they are still the best. Oh yes, last time I purchased Rico reeds was in 1964. Great memory for a 70 year young.

I don't know too much about different reeds, but these were recommended to me as a beginner and so far they are holding up wells and are nice to play with!
