This mail slot is a perfect match to true “antique brass.†It looks like it could be a 1942 original piece compared to my existing hardware. I had to go to an antique store and get a couple rosettes for my doorknobs because they were missing when I bought my house. Those rosettes (and the hardware that is original to the house) are solid brass. This mail slot matched perfectly! It is not the bright, shiny gold-looking brass. I think the mailman was a little surprised at first when he met resistance on the backside because this mail slot has two flaps, one for the inside and one for the outside, but it isn’t stiff or anything on the inner flap. The metal feels solid and is the perfect thickness - not too heavy, not so thin that it feels like you could easily bend it. I will say that the finish appears to be brushed on so it may show scratches over time that couldn’t be buffed, but that’s a risk I’m willing to take. Great product!

Heavy solid brass with antique finish as advertised. It looks a bit weathered as I wanted, but it protected from further weathering by the finish. The spring has a reasonable stiffness and the interior flap has no spring to allow mail to pass through easily. The interior flap gives a much more finished look than some with just an interior frame. The movement of the flaps makes a total weather seal impossible, but the second flap helps in that regard. I thought it was a bit pricey, but I guess you get what you pay for.

This was a replacement for one that was weathered with a broken inside slot. The bright brass finish and fit were perfect and installation was a snap. I deducted a star because one of the screws wasn't scored properly, so the Phillips screwdriver wouldn't turn it. I just used one of the old screws and it's ready for use.

We got this set for our new insulated sectional garage doors as the mail slot is located in the door. The double doors cover the hole well, are very sturdy, and prevent wind from blowing thru as well. I also added their stainless steel slot liner to hide the foam insulation inside the slot as well. Love the new setup.

Really nice set, there is a cutting template on Deltana's website(see link below). Mount the spring flap on the exterior, which ensures it stays closed. If the spring flap was mounted on the inside the mail would probably not push it open. So the non-spring side is for the interior. I also, as many others have, ran into the hinges being outside of the rectangle requiring some widening where the hinges will sit. Although the instructions and template are not included from Amazon, I still give the product 5 stars, but this listing only 3 due to lack of instructions and template.I also recommend the stainless steel door sleeve which makes everything looks very clean. But this also needs modified to allow the hinges to fit as discussed above.This is not an easy DYI project and probably best to have it installed. I have a metal door that is foam filled. Replacing brass mail slot, got a bargain, brought used (a little deformation on outer edge I was able to bend back to near factory specs). Matched original holes. Better made that my the brass one it replaced.

I purchased this as it was recommended by a friend. I live in South Florida and figured since the company was in Miami it would do well here. I sent the first one back as it had no instructions or installation template. The second one arrived the same. I called the manufacturer and was told that is the way it comes. I’m not about to take a jig saw to my expensive new garage door without a template to go by. I thought since it was more expensive than others it would be good quality. My friend’s came with instructions and a template. His oxidized and the finish looks poorly after one year near the ocean.

The product mounted in the existing holes (replaced an old brass unit) with minimal issues. The new unit has a hinge pin (runs the entire length of the flap) that required some recessing to get it to fit the way I wanted... but that was my OCD, not the fault of the product. A little time with a dremel on the steel liner (optional, purchased it to 'line' the opening), and a little massaging on the door and it fit like a dream. VERY happy with the fit and finish.
