Good: Performs as advertised. Setup isn't quite a no-brainer, the guard has three depth settings, and it takes a little fiddling of the disc position in the chuck and the guard depth to get everything properly aligned with the disc surface maybe an eighth of an inch below the guard. Once you have it set up, however, it works well. My dog isn't quite used to it yet but she at least tolerates it on the lowest tool speed, and the discs cut reasonably quickly and smoothly. (Given that they're just cut-down 60-gritsanding discs, this isn't surprising.) Guard catches at least most of the dust and is reasonably easy to clean.Bad: It may be just the way my dog's claws grow, but the trimming method described in the manual doesn't work for us. I have to rotate the trimmer 90 degrees and get that elongated part completely out of the way for the disc to make contact.Bottom line: Both setup and usage take some practice, but it does work. You have to run the Dremel on its lowest speed, otherwise it makes a lot of noise and spooks the pet. You also have to avoid the temptation to go too fast. I keep getting impatient and putting too much pressure on the tool, which slows it down and heats up the claw, which is probably uncomfortable for the pet. (Plus, it smells awful.) But, with patience and a little practice, it works well. And replacement discs are like a dollar each. Five stars.

Although it does fit my Dremel as claimed, the directions weren’t clear and I had to remove a couple pieces off my unit to install and use this. I’ve now got a dedicated Dremel just for the dogs so I don’t have to disassemble for each use. Works much better than the cheap knock offs with the under powered motor and cheap batteries. I was happy Dremel offered this attachment specific for dog nails as it’s much shatter than doing it without the guard.

We have a Chihuahua mix with black nails. It's impossible to see where her quicks are, and her nails grow very fast. They need trimming every week to not curl, and are super thick. We were using a rechargable grinder made for dogs, and her nails ground down the grinder and took a toll on the small motor. We needed a better solution. She's tiny, and wiggly. A Dremel would work best, but I wanted to make sure she was safe from accidental injury. This tool does the trick! Fit perfectly on my old and trusty Dremel 200. Put it on low speed and it screeched and scared her a bit. Set it to high, and it quietly and quickly ground her nails down. The paw pad and guard are designed perfectly, allowing me to get just the right angle. Unlike the rechargable one, her nails didn't reduce the disc to dust, and there was very little odor of "burning nail". The guard protected her paw pads and fur nicely, and it was quick and painless.Sure, the tool itself is plastic but it seems like it'll last a bit. It's half the price of a groomer doing them once, and so even if I have to replace it (or the discs) we are saving a lot of time and money, as well as the stress of a grooming visit (since her short coat never needs trimming and we bathe her and care for her other grooming needs at home). All in all, a great solution, especially for very thick, quick growing nails.

I initially bought a separate Dremel for pet nails. When I got it in, I realized it was just a normal Dremel 7000 series with this attachment. I quickly returned it and ordered this for my Dremel 8250.I’ll cut straight to the downside first…This attachment does not universally fit all current Dremels. On my 8250, I can’t use the 3rd depth setting that is designed to be flush with the guard. The whole attachment screws onto my Dremel too deep, so the sandpaper sticks out about 2mm too far and doesn’t fit flush with the 3rd depth. This would be a 5-star attachment if it had some means to set a baseline depth on the attachment itself. I can unscrew the whole attachment 2mm and use the 3rd depth, but then the attachment is a little too lose and will vibrate itself off within a short time of using it.When I checked it on the 7000 series, it was a perfect fit. It’s just the 8250 has a slightly deeper screw mount. This is the first universal attachment I’ve not been able to fully use on it.Beyond that, it’s a great little attachment and does the job well. My pets definitely prefer having their nails grinded vs clipped, though the noise of a Dremel does bother some of them. I just wish I could use the flush 3rd depth without loosening up the whole attachment.

Just got this today to use on my 6month old, 46lb Golden Retriever. I had his nails professionally cut the first time in hopes he’d get use to his nails being cut. This time I opted to do it myself with this product and it worked perfectly.I started on a low setting so he would be use to the noise of the dremel. After a minute when he seemed more comfortable, I turned my dremel to 1500rpm which is adequate for this task. Had his front paws trimmed in about 5min.It seems a lot of negative reviews are from people who buy this and don’t have the correct dremel. You must make sure the model dremel you own will work with this attachment. Also, your dremel will determine the height of the tool. If you follow these basics things, I think most people will be satisfied w the product. Go slow and take your time and I think you’ll like it.Final thought, this product may not work as well with smaller pups. I could see this possibly being harder to use if your dog has smaller paws and shorter nails so do keep that in mind.

Good fit and function, easy to assemble and use. We tried to use with home Dremel which would not go slow enough. Ended up purchasing whole package.

Oh, the dreaded nail trimming session with my furry best friend! It used to be a nail-biting experience (pun intended), but that all changed when I discovered the Dremel Pet Grooming Nail Guard Attachment. Now, it's all smooth sailing, or rather, smooth trimming! The guard attachment made trimming my dog's nails a walk in the park. No more nail trimming drama or accidental "oops" moments – just a calm and collected pup and a relieved pet owner. This attachment is like a trusty sidekick that swoops in and saves the day, turning a once-stressful chore into a breeze.I'm giving the Dremel Nail Guard Attachment a solid four stars. It would have earned a perfect five, but I found the instructions to be a bit tricky to decipher at first. However, after a bit of head-scratching and a couple of trial runs, we were good to go.Overall, if you're looking for an easier way to keep your pet's nails in check without the usual fuss, the Dremel Pet Grooming Nail Guard Attachment is definitely worth considering. Here's to happier paws and a more relaxed nail trimming experience for both you and your furry friend!

This is the only nail grooming tool I have ever used that my dog doesn’t act like she’s dying. It also doesn’t hurt her like clippers can, which doesn’t help the lack of trust your dog gains for you by you hurting them when it’s time to nail groom. Styptic powder stings like a MF. Hurts them too. With the guard this dremel has, it’s almost impossible to hurt your pup with this tool. Read the instructions thoroughly. Learn the tool well before using it. I also got her used to it. Let her sniff it really well. Put it in her toy box. Turned it on and put it beside her. It takes a few minutes to get used to if you’ve never used a rotary tool before, but it’s fairly straightforward to use. Any longer than 3 seconds on one nail can get really hot. So far, that’s the only thing that I’ve seen that can hurt your pup during this process. It’s a bit noisy when you get into the higher speeds, but that’s to be expected. The really quiet ones like Lucky Tail just don’t cut it for really doing the job quickly. Quick is how it gets done. The only thing you’ll still have to overcome is the complete drama queen your dog turns into when you go to groom their nails.
