About this item

  • High-speed steel tools are good for most general purpose applications, offering a combination of hardness and toughness for wear resistance Black oxide treatment adds lubricity and creates small pockets on the surface of the tool that act to hold coolant near the cutting edge Round shanks allow use with a wide variety of tool holding systems When run in a counterclockwise direction (right-hand cut) spiral fluted tools evacuate chips up and out of the cut to reduce clogging Ideal for drilling in low and medium tensile strength materials
  • The package length is 7 inches
  • The package height is 3 inches
  • The package width is 3 inches

Made of HS Steel and ground to a 118° point. These drills expand the size range capacity of a portable drill chuck. Common flute and overall length for minimal adjustment during tool changes. Precision ground for high degree of concentricity between shank and body diameter. Ideal for drilling in low and medium tensile strength materials. Black oxide finish.

Great drill. Low cost and delivery to my door on an uncommon drill size

Needed an odd size 55/64” bit to do drag link flip kit on my jeep. This cheapo $12 bit was more than half the price I could find anywhere else, and it cut through the solid metal steering knuckle like butter and tracked perfectly using only a 12volt battery drill. Very surprised by its performance would highly recommend.

This bit was good for 6 holes through 1/4" mild steel before getting too dull, and that was with lubrication and pre-drilling a pilot hole. If you only need it for one project it's a good option considering the low price, but it is a disposable item. If you need to drill many holes through steel get a cobalt bit.

I purchased this bit in order to ream out a smaller hole (5/8) to a larger one (15/16) to adapt a 3-point implement from cat-0 to cat-1. As soon as the bit hit the implement I knew it wasn't going to work. It didn't cut, it bounced off. I kept going, pushing harder, hoping maybe it'd create enough of an edge and start cutting. It never did cut even though I did manage to get a few metal chips off. In retrospect I think some of the chips that were coming off were actually the drill bit itself. You can see from the photo that the cutting edge on the bit rounded off nicely and quickly from the implement's steel. In the bit's defense, the steel I'm drilling into is old, likely from the 1950s or 1960s so YMMV in newer, softer steel.

Not a handy person, I approached the need to drill into a bedroom wall only bit by bit over a week. I thought I'd end up having bit off more than I could chew. I already had a bit-ter experience buying a drill bit at a local hardware store: the young person hesitated not a bit as she sold me a bit for a larger drill. And I didn't know enough about drill sizes, not even a bit, to ask. I was so unhappy that I bit the inside of my cheek. Fortunately, the Drill America product quelled my bit-termess. It stood firm, plunging itself into the wall, whirling like mad as my 30-year old Sears drill spun it around. The wall was not a bit resistant. A better bit can't be bought.

I'm using mine on hard maple and it's working well. I needed the very specific diameter that I got with this bit. Can't really speak of its longevity or durability as I haven't really pushed it much. Just did about 30 1" deep holes in hard maple. But it was sharp, and the diameter was accurate.

This drill bit bent on the first use. I've never seen a drill bitt this size bend like a banana.
