THIS THING IS FAST, smooth, and super fun to ride. It hits over 21 mph, has a great battery life, and the 10-inch tires and suspension make every ride comfortable. The brakes are strong, and the app control is really handy for tracking speed and battery. It also folds up quickly, making it easy to carry around in my small truck lol.I originally got a different scooter for my dad, and my little cousin was obsessed with it every time he visited, he begged to ride it. I had rented a powered scooter a few times, and enjoyed playing around on them, so I ordered one as it seemed to have a large motor than alot of the others for sale and thought it was probably closer to the rentals in power. This one is rated for a bit more weight than most, like 265 lbs or something, and had the suspension on front and rear to absorb some of the shock and vibration from the road, so I thought it was a good fit.I rode it around in a mostly flat campground with paved roads for a couple of days, and it seemed okay, although I am suspicious of its claimed speed readout as it seemed highly optimistic. What I did notice immediately was if there was even a slight incline, the scooter would loose power/speed immediately. Trying it more when I got home, it really can't handle even the smallest of hills. if you were on a walking trail with really mild ups and downs you may be okay as the momentum from the previous one might be enough to carry you up the next little one. but if you have any sort of sustained hill, forget about it. Basically it slows down to the point it can no longer stay up right (but reads 5mph at the same time, so like i said i don't believe the speed readout). You could try to assist it up hill like a traditional kick scooter, but its kind of an odd feeling as you are lifting weight off the scooter to kick.The App. You really need to download the app for the scooter, to at least do setup. to be able to do something simple like turn the headlight on, its a simple press again of the power button, but things more complicated than that should probably be done through the app. I for instance changed to MPH, and i turned off the 'cruise' feature which seemed like it would make crashing easier especially for someone newer. There is a lock function in the app, that might help keep kids from goofing around on it if you parked it outside somewhere, but someone could easily steal it regardless, I don't know if the electronic locking would really prevent that as they might not realize they will have problems later till they have already grabbed it and removed it.As I said, I would have tested the speed readout against my phones GPS, but there really isn't room on the handlebars to mount a phone with the accelerator on one side and the clip to hold it while folded on the other. A place that could support a phone would be a nice feature especially if you are navigating an area you are not familiar with and want to have maps open.Based on how easily the scooter is overwhelmed by even a small uphill, I am suspicious of its 500watt motor claim. If its completely flat, it does get up to speed and go fast enough that if you crash, its really gonna hurt, so don't underestimate that.Headlight does work, and there is a rear light that blinks if you are braking, but if its actually dark out (rather than street lights) the light is very feeble, and I had trouble in the dark with the headlight seeing where I was going, depth and speed perception is also limited by the lack of lighting. If you were to actually ride it in the city at night, you should think about putting a blinking light from bicycles on you back or backpack so people can see you from behind and maybe try to figure out a way to have a larger light, but I am not sure how you would mount it.Braking, it is suppose to have dual braking, the electronic breaking is suppose to be recharging the battery. I never noticed any significant braking from the motor, so its all on the single mechanical brake. With the mechanical brake, plan ahead, as it isn't awe inspiring, I could easily see a person crashing if something unexpected changed in front of you (I think this is true on most scooters to some extent). A couple of times i braked hard and jumped off (while holding onto the scooter) as it seemed if you could get you speed down low enough to jump off that you could come to a complete stop faster using your feet rather than just brakes.the folding mechanism seemed to work well, I used it a couple of times, and i tried carrying the scooter a little ways like that. Its heavy, but I could see doing that if you were like shopping downtown or something, I think folding it up and taking it into a shop or restaurant would invoke less comment than leaving it extended and rolling it in somewhere. But I doubt you would want to carry it for any time/distance.The scooter as it came required 4 screws to be used to attach the handle bars, so easy to setup. I was a bit disappointed though that the back of the front fender rubs against the body of the scooter, and you can feel that rub in the handlebars at low speed and I almost thought I had a bad bearing or something. And of course the scrape on the back of the fender doesn't look great.For me, its just too underpowered and I will have to see if I can return it. If you weigh half of its rated weight, maybe you would have a better experience, but I think if you did that many scooters with even the smaller motors would be very useable to you.
