Works exactly like the original charging coaster, as it should. The original coaster lasted about two months before the spring loaded charging pins became stuck in the down position, and didn't contact the charging rings on the bottom of the Ember mug. This seems to be a common problem with the charging coaster due to liquid contamination of the charging pins from washing the mug or spillage of contents. Bottom line, never put the Ember mug on the charging coaster unless it is absolutely dry. If a coffee or tea spill has occurred and dampened the bottom of the mug, wash it, dry it with a cloth, and invert the empty cup to let it dry. A few minutes is not enough, a few hours is more like it.

I absolutely love my ember mug. I use it twice everyday in the morning and evening for my tea. So imagine my horror when I saw that the mug was not charging properly! I did a quick Amazon search and found this ember charger replacement and I bought it immediately. It is just as good as the one that came with my original ember. It charges my mug properly so that it keeps my tea warm for all of my morning activities (ok let’s be honest…for the entirety of the today show 🤣). If your ember mug charger has gone kaput, this is the perfect replacement!

I bought my first Ember mug in February 2021. The base finally quit on me a couple weeks ago. One of the charging pins broke. The pins seem to be spring-loaded, and one of the springs must have broken - so one pin no longer made contact with the charging ring on the mug.My Ember mug has become a true guilty pleasure. They’re stupidly expensive — but I do love mine. When my base finally failed I didn’t hesitate to buy a replacement.After making my purchase I wrote to Ember and asked if I could send them my old broken base so they could recycle it. Sadly, they don’t do that, they instead advised me to take it to an eWaste drop off. They also offered to send me a replacement base even though I’m sure I’m out of warranty. If you’re considering buying a replacement base unit I’d advise you to contact ember customer support first.

We needed a replacement when the original went out after 2 years. This works well. We have been using it for over a year and it gets the coffee to temperature. Easy to use. Just plug it in. No problems. So glad we didn't have to buy a whole new mug.

I purchased an Ember mug/charger directly from Ember a couple of years ago for my wife. The mug works great and she loves it. At some point one of the pins on the charging coaster became depressed into the coaster. I was unable to fix it so I just got on Amazon and bought a new one. Now, within the warranty period, the same thing happened. The inner charging pin has depressed into the charging coaster and it does not work. So this time I got on Ember's web site and looked at support. Ember acknowledges the problem right on their support page. But they are no help.There is no phone number so I emailed them through their web site. I got an automated email in response asking me more questions. I answered them, sent them proof of purchase and hoped for the best. No response. A week later I emailed them again and asked them to get back to me. No response. I responded to an add on Facebook hoping they would see it and want to solve a customer issue. No response.So now I have a product under warranty that does not work and a company that does not care. I'm hoping this review might generate a response, but I am not holding out hope. If I hear from them I will update my comments. If I don't, I will do the same. But for right now, I would not recommend their product because of the company that DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT.UPDATE: Heard back from them the same day I posted this. They wanted pictures of the coaster pins and the serial number on the bottom (which is unreadable). Sent that to them along with what I think of their customer service. Like I'm going to go through this crap for $30? But the mug, when it can charge is awesome. But it's expensive. That's why I am doing this. It's useless without the charger. I will update again when I hear from them next.

I really like the whole Ember mug thing. Works as it should. Keeps my coffee hot. However, I find the charging coaster is prone to breakage. I've had to replace it as one of the charging prongs broke. I don't abuse it. I gently clean around them, never touching them, do not submerse in water. It just seemed to disappear. For the cost of the mug and charger initially, I would not expect this to happen. I've read about others having same issue including Ember not being responsive to warranty inquiries. That's why I replaced via Amazon. I would not discourage someone from getting this.

I have the first version of the embers coffee cup and this charging coaster 2 works great so far. The gold version looks amazing!

Works great! Excellent alternative to buying a whole new mug when my original charger died. Would also be great as an additional charger so you could have one at work and one at home. Love the copper color!

This item was supplied directly from the US. It is therefore designed operate at 110 volts not 230 volts, and was supplied with an unearthed US flat 2 pin plug (see photo). This is PROHIBITED by UK Statutory Instrument No 1768 of 1994..

Works great second one i boughtFirst one had a pin spring break so didn't function any more but used it for 2 years before that happened
