I am using this item on a carpeted floor for my wheeled office chair. The item came rolled up pretty tight, but wasn’t heavy. Upon opening, I attempted to unroll the mat flat on the floor but it was so stiff I had to call my friend in the room to assist me with getting it to lay flat. With her help, we unrolled it and put dumbbells on each corner to get the mat to flatten. The next morning when I woke up, the mat was essentially completely flat and the weights were no longer needed. My chair glides across this mat with no friction whatsoever. There was an instruction paper in the box saying to use a blow dryer if the item wouldn’t unroll easily, but I didn’t see that until after we had already struggled to get it flat.

I give four stars because I'm buying a new pair to replace an older pair that has survived so many years of heavy use that I can't even remember where or exactly when I bought them. I am hoping that after all these years my new ones are still made of the same quality material, and I'm basing my four stars on that assumption. So far, so good. I subtract one star because they're shipped rolled up. You will need a friend or some device with a wide lip to unroll each of these, and then you'll need multiple heavy objects to sit on each one for several hours. After that, it will be weeks or even months before the curvature disappears. Fortunately the edges curve down into the floor (i.e. the middle bulges up), otherwise you'd never stop the edges from curling up. I tried to find a local retailer who receives these in bulk (bulk ones are shipped flat), but no luck, so I bought them individually from Amazon only because I had no way to get a flat one.

This mat is the real deal, amazing quality, perfect size and fit to replace an old Costco chair mat that lasted me 10 years (different brand than this one).Very thick plastic, super shiny. So thick that it too almost two days to flatten-out the mat using random 5-10 lb weight plates stacked and spread out even to keep it down (comes rolled up, super stiff and tough to straighten out).have been using about 6 months, not a single hairline crack or yellow discoloration, looks practically new but a touch more dull, the plastic chair rollers have given the surface a shiny matte finish now.i would buy this 20 times over, looks like it will last me 10 years at least.

Mine came rolled up, took a while to lay flat. It slowly moves on the carpet, a tiny bit each day. Also, the weight of me in the chair creates divots in it so the wheels kind of fall into those valleys. (I'm only 150 lbs.) I think the material is too weak and can't support the chair properly. I do still have it and use it, but I don't love it.Bought on October 9, 2013. I am now back for my ~3 month update. I must lower the rating from 3 stars to 1 star because it is not worth buying. 3 months is a rediculous lifespan. So for the last 3 months i havent liked it because my chair makes little pits in the plastic, and it gets stuck. The plastic is too weak. That was the flaw i could have lived with, maybe.. But in the last month i now have (2) 4" long cracks in the plastic just from the weight of the chair. This isn't any fancy chair, its a lightweight computer chair with 5 legs, I might have even reviewed it on here. I still love that chair. It really bums me out, as i spent a lot of time reviewing in the first place to buy this mat. Turns out its a total waste of money. You don't get a GOOD mat with free 2 day shipping for ~$40.. Now my biggest problem is finding another mat I can buy that will last more than 3 months.

It's a high quality mat. It's think and I think it will be as durable as the last ES Robbins mat I used for eight years, and I am no lightweight. But don't think you are going to take it out of the box and put it to work right away. I has taken about five days of weight it down in a warm room to flatten it out. But I think worth the wait.****Additional info. After a month in use. I basically still like the durability and protective ability of this mat BUT -- after a month on the floor, with a concrete block sitting on it at night, there are still some slight upward bulges that refuse to go flat. I am hopeful that in time it will completely flatten.

Does what it should, low pile carpet and it isn’t quite as sturdy as expected.

Owned for about 8-9 months. No cracks in it yet. Easy to roll around unless you sit in one spot for a long time, then it sinks and you've made yourself a little groove. It's gone over night though and ready to be used again. It didn't take too long to flatten out once it arrives all rolled up. The clear finish hasn't yellowed after almost a year in direct sunlight.

Have had this mat for about 6 months or so now and there's pretty much not a single good thing to say about it. The plastic is so soft that it leaves dents from my office chair even when I'm not sitting in it, its just from the weight of the chair and is even worse when sitting in it. I have to physically grab my desk and push or pull myself with pretty good force to get the chair to move. The other big negative was when it first arrived it had a few large stickers on it which did not come off nicely. Needed a scraper to remove the stickers and still left a bunch of adhesive which I had to use goo gone on. For the price of this thing compared to other brands it is definitely not worth it

Wanted to say, this mat is so good, still last after 4 years everyday use. I want to buy 2 more, too bad, the price is not as good as 4 years ago.
