I had a $900 quote to add to steel posts to our dock. The job was too easy to part with $900 so I bought this post driver, two pipes and completed the job in a couple of hours. Thanks to having an 18 lbs post driver put both post in place, with little effort. I saved $750 for a couple of hours of work with the correct tool in hand.

Seriously, we used this to install a 10 foot grounding rod. It had to be used from the top of a ladder when the pounding began. The rod went in smoothly. The device is undamaged. The grandkids got a workout. If I had to install a hundred steel fence posts it would probably work as well.

Product is nice but shorter than similar items. Total length is 17’’ but sliding length is only 10’’ . As a results the stroke is too short limiting the impact force and enabling to escape from the Tpost with the risk to hurt yourself. ( it happened to me ! )

I've always pounded posts like this with a sledge. Not the right tool if you ask me. Bent a lot of posts. Ruined a lot of posts. Sweated, swore, and more. A fence post driver is the right tool. Makes this task easy. It's 12lbs which is a good weight to drive a good amount each stroke, without making it too heavy for an average person to use. It's fully painted, and the welds look good. Handles are perfect to keep control of the driver. Makes it so much easier to drive a fence post.

I don't know how well these work on fence posts but the metal posts I am using to make a trellis for my blackberry plants are driven into the ground surprisingly easily with this. Before I was just using a hammer and it took forever. I have the 12 pound one and it has some weight to it but really isn't difficult to lift and strike the posts. The only thing I would note is it is really loud when you hit metal posts with this since the inside is hollow.

The fence post is functionally oriented. It's sturdy and surely works for its designed functions. However, the finish, especially the soldering, might be less than others, for example, the 16 lbs one I own. The price is not competitive.

This is easier for me to use than the longer version we have. It seems as though we're always putting in T-posts on our ranch to partition something off. I really like this because it doesn't take as much height to operate it. I'm a female, 5'5" When you're looking at a 6' T-post and then trying to reach over it to put the post driver on it's a stretch and then trying to get enough leverage for the first couple taps. In the past I've had to carry around a cinder block to stand on, but with this I put several posts in without a problem and at only 12 pounds this worked out great it's light enough for me to tote around at our ranch. Our soil is thick deep clay with rarely a rock, and we live in a very wet climate. This means I am able to sink T-post pretty easily. The pounder is finished well and there were no imperfections in the coating. The handle joints are secure and this should have a very active and long life with our family.
