About this item

  • POWERFUL GARDEN DRILL AUGER: Our garden-digging tool is designed as an alternative to post-hole diggers, bulb planters, or shovels for digging holes. Our garden drill bit auger's effective design can help you speed up your outdoor planting time much more efficiently than a traditional post-hole digger.
  • MULTIFACETED TOOL: Our specially designed auger drill bit is perfect for various home projects, municipalities, theme parks, playgrounds, and the like. Use our drill attachment to mix paint, fertilizer, or mortar. You can also use it as a shovel alternative or garden auger drill bit for planting anything from small vegetables to larger shrubs by reaming out the hole. Our drill is also a great alternative to your gardening hand bulb planter.
  • IDEAL FOR ANY SOIL TYPE: Our patent-pending ground-hole auger bit is effective for drilling into dirt, clay, rocky soil, and sand. This flexible drill bit has been designed to leave a small amount of loose soil in the bottom of a hole to help a new plant start growing and reduce transplant shock.
  • EASY TO USE: Our auger bit features a 1/2-inch non-slip hex drive that can fit most cordless drills. Tighten the drill chuck to secure the auger, and you're ready to dig. This drill bit auger for planting is perfect for property owners, DIYers, gardeners, and people who love working in the garden or yard.
  • ABOUT US: Power Planter is a third-generation, family-owned auger manufacturer that started three decades ago in rural Illinois and is still located there. The centennial farm where our company began making augers is a sixth-generation family-run farm. We have evolved over the past 20 years from the invention and patent of our original Power Planter auger to offer various sizes, models, and even auger accessories today.

I got this to plant a bunch of spring bulbs. I could have gone down a size I think. I was able to put more than one bulb per hole so the job took a lot less time. We have very rocky soil and it worked surprisingly well. Sure there was the occasional catch that would twist it and your wrists but if you follow the instructions on setting your drill up, you shouldn’t have any problems. Everyone that gives it a try loves it too and want to get one. We are currently using it to put base uprights to a greenhouse in. Each person is giving it a try and passing it around. Not really work when you have the right tools. This is a must have if you plant or need to drill holes for anything since they come in a wide range of sizes. Would buy this again if I needed another one. Made is the USA too!

I own 3 different sizes of PP brand auger for use around my property. They are all well built from quality steel and, unlike cheaper brands that I have tried, stay chucked in the drill without the shaft deforming and the tips don't wear out quickly. With normal care, these will last for decades of use. Very useful tool when working in the dirt. I highly recommend this brand.

Work great, but easy to loose from the drill when vibration kicks in ( mainly due to rocky soil)

I have two cedar compost bins that I use mostly for my grass clippings and leaves. However, up to this point I have found it extremely difficult to turn the compost in order to obtain better decomposition. Enter the Power Planter 4" X 28" Large Sized Bulb Auger. This auger is absolutely the best tool to quickly and easily turn my piles of compost! Simply attach it to my cordless drill and off I go. In minutes I am able completely turn and mix the compost in my bins without even breaking a sweat. The size of this auger is perfect for completing this job and just does a fantastic job in turning and mixing my compost. I am sure this tool also works great for planting bulbs, but if you have compost bins and are looking for a fast, easy way to turn and mix that compost for better decomposition, I would greatly encourage you to purchase the Power Planter 4" X 28" Large Sized Bulb Auger. You will be very glad that you did!!!

I dug 20 holes for plants with this auger. It saved me a huge amount of time and saved my back. My Makita cordless hammer drill was the perfect choice to drive this auger, which is really well-built and sturdy. Would definitely buy again.

This is a good size for bulbs but the shaft is smooth so in compacted dirt it spins in the drill.

The quality of the metal is poor and is exacerbated by the poor design. The auger dug only two holes in my Southern California yard before "rounding-out". It got so bad that I had to use a beach umbrella pole to disrupt the bottom of the hole so that the rounded blades of the auger could lift the dirt out. On the other-hand, the rented equipment I used afterwards worked perfectly. The problem is the tip of the auger... this company needs to hire an engineer or an artist to get its curves right.
