I wrote a similar review for the alternative, Hill Bracket version of this chin rest that I first purchased. I much prefer the standard bracket version. I have reworked my playing to not use a shoulder rest and to balance the violin directly on my collarbone. This centered chin rest is more comfortable for me than the Guarneri style I had been using. I actually had been resting my chin to the right of the bowl on the Guarneri chin rest, making this centered one the perfect fit. The standard bracket sits a little closer to the violin's ribs than the Hill version does, which doesn't bother my neck while I'm playing.

There is nothing wrong with the chin rest but it is very tall and didn't work for me. For people with a short neck, this won't be the nest.
