The shovel comes in a protective pouch, folded completely. The head of the shovel is kinda small but it’s meant to fit in a backpack so that’s expected. The whole shovel is well made and is adjusted by a nut on the handle that tightens down to lock things in place. It has a pick on one side and a shovel head on the other.Installation/setup: Unfold, decide if you want to use the pick or the shovel head and adjust accordingly.Final thoughts: It took me a minute to figure out how this functions lol. The nut on the handle should be loosened to allow the head of the shovel or the pick to be chosen then tightened back up to secure it. The tool seems sturdy, I haven’t actually used it to dig a hole or anything but I feel it will work well at least for light duty. I wouldn’t want to dig a 6 foot hole with it but it will work well for me. I plan to just keep it in my can along with my rock pick to look for semi precious stones if the mood strikes me. I like this and I’m glad I got it.âï¸1 star - I don't recommend it at all, poor quality.âï¸âï¸ 2 stars - I don't recommend it, it has multiple faults, or a very high price.âï¸âï¸âï¸ 3 stars - It's passable, It has some faults but the quality is ok for what it is.âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸ 4 stars - Product quite acceptable, it does what it promises.âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸ 5 stars - Product that I totally recommend.

Good addition to my emergency kit. This foldable shovel is small but sturdy, and has a number of functions that will all come in handy in case of a disaster. The metal isn’t flimsy and locks into place well. Since I don’t use it often, I can’t speak to how it holds up, but I don’t have any worries about it failing me if I need it for an emergency.
