Below is a standoff for a "Hall Tree" from the 1800's. Silver plated brass... I welded the pieces back together with a propane torch. Use plenty of Flux. It takes a while to get to temperature, then flows well.. Sanded the living heck out of it because apparently I am "King Spaldie" lord of the grind. Polished the brass and re- plated with "Nushine Silver Plating Solution" and a TON of elbow grease. I am pleased with the end result and would recommend these rods for brass. Good luck with your project!

This stuff has the perfect melting point to be used with MAPP gas. Just dip the end in a little flux and you are good to go. Great for fixing small broken metal objects.

I use these to make hinge pins for Incra Hingemaster wooden hinges. They fit perfectly and since they are brass they won't corrode easily and you can use a punch to flare the ends a bit and lock them in place. Hopefully someone that is googling how to get hinge pins for such hinges will find this review... I know it would have made my search a little easier.

I've used these zinc/copper rods for stakes to support stained glass projects (eg, houseplant stake with stained glass flowers or birds attached to them.} These rods are quite a lot cheaper than pure copper rods, but accept flux and solder just as well, so I was quite pleased to discover them. I will be ordering more as needed.

The package only contained 9 rods, not the most disturbing news but I was supposed to receive 10.
