I picked this thermometer for three main reasons- 1. This price is reasonable. 2. Unlike others, the pointer and the temperature are both very easy to see in dim lighting. I had purchased a different brand recently but the colors of the temperature graduations are next to impossible to read unless a flashlight is shone directly upon it- and I paid over twice as much for it! 3. The temperature range indicators are perfect for my STOVETOP- 400 to 650 ideal temperature range. Many others are more suitable for STOVEPIPE temperature ranges. So I put this directly on the stovetop and my old one on the stovepipe. As long as you know what your stove manufacturer recommends, this may not be a big deal to you- just read the temperature. Temp ranges and fancy color coding can be ignored but it sure does come in handy. Also, as others have said, it is a little smaller than the more expensive ones. It is about 2 1/2†across compared to my expensive one, which is about 3 1/2†across. But since my expensive one cost over twice as much shouldn’t it be 6†in diameter for the same comparative value??? LOL. Finally, I also noticed that the colors faded after the first use but the temperature ranges are still clearly identifiable. Neither one of those issues are deal breakers for me- it works great!

Works great! Just snap it on the stove pipe with its magnet and measure away. I used an infrared thermometer to check the accuracy and it seem to be pretty close. Certainly close enough to measure a stove pipe temp.

This gauge works fine for the money, but the colors all faded to grey the first time I used it.

after going through several not the name brand thermometers . we decided to give this a try. Works perfectly and the needle does not fall off easily which is great when you have lttles.that like to touch when the stove is cold.

Even though I'm good with it being a little sloppy, this is a bit much for me. If you're going to have a thermometer that measures high temps like on a wood stove, you might want to use high temp enamel paint rather than whatever they used here, as it discolored during the first use. It's also incapable of reading temps below what you see here as the stove is stone cold in the pic above. Seems to read okay above that, but unless I get an IR thermometer, I can't be 100%

This has been extremely helpful. With this we know how our wood stove is doing. With a quick glance we can close the damper and let it cool a bit before it gets way too hot. Very happy with this product.

Mine was highly inaccurate. I tested it against an IR thermometer, instant read thermometer, and 3 other similar temperature gauges. It read 150F high making it largely unusable. All the others agreed well. Retuning since the level of inaccuracy makes it largely unusable.

I really like this thermometer, but it is smaller than I anticipated. This is not a problem and the thermometer works well.

Brilliant and unobtrusive for the job.Assuming it’s accurate as I have no other way to tell.
