I bought a few of these for our wood stoves. They work perfectly and are easy to read and understand. They can alert you to the status of your fire at a glance without having to open the stove. Magnetic based so there are almost unlimited ways to use them. I HIGHLY recommend.

This thermometer is so lightweight that I was skeptical about it once I received it; it feels like a toy. However, it was already showing the room temperature right out of the box, although I thought at the moment that it was just a coincidence. It was not. Every time it's been a full day of not using the fireplace the thermometer stands at room temperature, the same our central heating device is showing, which I suppose it's the temperature of the fireplace surface as well. Once we start using the fireplace it slowly starts showing the change. Once our fire starts to die, the thermometer shows it. I included pictures of different stages of our fire and the changes in the thermometer.It attaches well to the fireplace, firmly but not exceedingly strong. At a good price, I just hope it lasts.Highly recommended.

The magnet held for 3 or 4 days and after being subject to stove pipe heat it started to slide down. I ran a small screw through the middle into the stove pipe to hold it up. Other than that it works good. Somewhat accurate

I had one of these for 2 years before the paint degraded and I needed a replacement. It was solidly accurate, agreeing with my IR thermometer and instant read contact thermometer. I ordered 2 replacements and they are also in close agreement to the original (easily within 50F). Overall I'm happy with this product.Note the "Best operation" indication is dependent on how you use it (stove top vs single wall vs double wall stove pipe) so take it with a grain of salt. For example, my stovetop is supposed to run between 450-650F which is mostly in the "too hot" range.Overall I do recommend as several other brands I have bought were highly inaccurate. While these have all been solid.

Put it on my Blackstone griddle today. I now know what temperature each side of the griddle is! Easy to move around with grilling tools.

I bought 2 of these for my wood stove to compare stove & glue temperature.They seemed to have readings that didn’t make sense, so I put them next to each other. They read more than 100 degrees different when placed next to each other!I checked then against my infrared unit, & they read 150 degrees different than the infrared unit reports. Basically, they are not worth owning since they aren’t even remotely close to being accurate.Also, the paint used on them does not hold up, the colors are completely faded off them in only a few months.I suggests you buy something else, I already have!

I used this thermometer on the surface of our wood stove. Same principle, only the temp range is supposed to be higher than the pipe.This thing did work and seemed to be pretty accurate. After a few days, though, I noticed that the indicator was stuck up in the green area after the stove had cooled. It seems that the indicator was rubbing against the frame, and the friction from the paint and/or notches was causing it to stick. A quick tap on it would reset it, but then I was determined to fix it. After bending it and sanding and filing (all admittedly my fault after this point) I still couldn't get it to not stick. Now it reads 100f at room temp, which obviously isn't right.It may give an accurate reading still, but it seems more like the analogy that a broken clock is correct twice a day. With the way this thing sticks and shows an incorrect room temp, it's not the most trustworthy.

Easy to place anywhere on the firebox. It helps a lot to monitor the temp because my firebox can really put our some heat. I recommend this product
