The parts are definitely stainless steel, not steel. That’s fine though because it welds just fine to steel with my mig welder. Needs a 7/8†hole. I used a step drill. The plug requires a 5/16†or 8mm Allen wrench. I ordered a two pack for the transmission fluid pans on 2 vehicles. I only installed one so far, but seems good. I welded from the inside and leak tested with water in the pan.

Reviewed 1/2024. This bung kit is nicely made and includes a copper washer. Overall, a very quality part but the description is completely wrong. First off, the bung I received is non-magnetic which leads me to believe that it is actually stainless steel, not plain steel. Listed as 12mm, there is no dimension that is 12mm except (almost) the overall height of the bung! The small diameter/actual hole that the bung fits in is 22mm or 7/8". The depth of this lip is 6mm or 1/4".The large diameter of the bung is just under 25mm or just under 1". The height is just over 6mm or 1/4". The thread is 18mm x 1.5.The plug head diameter is just over 22mm or just over 7/8". It is just over 3mm or 5/32" thick and uses an 8mm or 5/16" hex wrench.Despite the inaccurate description, I'd buy this again for future projects. The product is very nice, the description is not.
Good seller thanks for your help

This is not the first time I have ordered this product. 5 or 6 times in the past.

Transmission drain plug was all stainless steel construction besides the copper washer. I drilled a 9/16 hole and welded it to a mild steel e4od transmission pan. It has a milled edge on it that I did not reset into the steel by drilling a bigger hole. That way it would drain the whole thing and not be 3/16 into the pan the milled area gives you a place to build your weld

Absolutely the wrong size. You actually need a 22mm or 7/8†drill bit or holesaw to install vs the advertised 12mm size. Otherwise, good product.

I received this item in a timely manner and was exactly what I was hoping it was .it should work great for the drain plug in my 9" ford read end for a car I'm building

Plug wouldn't thread into bung. Didn't try it until after it was welded in. Had to run a brass plug to get truck back on the road.
