When I opened the package, there was a very strong chemical smell to the mat. Think noxious fumes invading the entire level of my house. This was anything but faint. I loved the quality and pattern too much to return, so I looked on other reviews to find a solution. I'm new to yoga, so I don't have the fancy mat cleaners. I used Mrs. Meyer's Basil cleaner twice on both sides, but it still stunk up the room. I then moved it to the garage for a day and washed it down with Clorox wipes - better, but not something I'd want to be around, let alone put my face on. At this point I'm 2 days in and still haven't gotten rid of the smell, so I put it outside, hosed it down with water and let it dry outside all day over a chair. The smell was finally gone! I also purchased the Gaiam blocks and there's a reason they ship those wrapped in plastic... those reeked too! But this time I went straight outside, hosed them down and let them sit on my patio table for the day. By night, they were free of smell too. FINAL SUGGESTED REMEDY: Completely drench in water and let sit outside for the day.I'm new to yoga, but have horrible joints and was apprehensive of a 6mm mat being thick enough. It's very comfortable! I can do gate pose on hardwood without knee pain and tree pose without feeling like there's too much give to balance on. It rolls up and out nice without curling of the corners. I'm only a week in, so I'm definitely not as graceful, or gentle, on the mat as I will be eventually. My mat doesn't seem to care and takes the beating with grace for me. It's a very sturdy and patient mat. The colors I chose are no longer available (Mandala Mantra), but I love the navy and red mandala pattern. When I get tired of it I can turn it over, but not any time soon. I love the versatility!

Holds up nicely for morning yoga. It's sticky so you don't slip, even if you're sweating.The cushioning is nice for the price. It is decently thick. I adore the color and design and I like that it has a design on both sides.

I own 4 of these, one for each member of my family. I’ve owned a lot of mats and this one is the best for a variety of reasons. It’s comfortable, is aesthetically pleasing, and durable. I’ve paid a lot more for other mats that looked worn very quickly. When I roll the mat out my dog is quick to steal it.

Texture and grip is great. I like the pattern. Cushy but not super thick. My only complaint is the smell. I’ve left it in the garage unrolled for a week and wiped it down with mild soap but it still smells. It is improving but I didn’t expect it to take this long.

I love this yoga mat! It is really pretty with lots of shades of blue creating a wave. We just bought a house with a room that has built in floor to ceiling wooden bookshelves on one wall, hardwood floors and another wall that is all windows. As you can see from the photo, it is currently a mess. This was moving day and things were stuck randomly all over the place. I intend to paint the room in a lovely green color. Something chosen from nature so that it will extend the colors you view from the windows. I think of it as a forest room and this is where I will do my yoga each day. The bright blue of the mat will make it feel like river running through the forest, or a forest by the sea. I love Gaiam mats. The 6mm mat offers plenty of cush for my knees and they come in lots of colors and styles. The price point is nice compared to some other popular brands. Maybe one day I will try a more expensive mat, but they aren't as pretty as this one. It won't stay there, but you can see the mat rolled up and tucked into the bookcase on the left side.

After checking several sites, this had the best offer for mat pattern I was interested in as it’s reversible.Only bad thing …when I first received this it really smelled like heavy plastic. It took a while of airing it out and no longer smells.

J'ai lu des critiques sur ce produit disant qu'il sentait fort. J'ai donc hésité à l'acheter, mais je l'ai fait et je ne le regrette pas. Je n'ai pas constaté une si forte odeur que ça lorsque j'ai déballé le tapis, et dans tous les cas elle est partie très vite. Ce tapis est beau, suffisamment épais pour protéger les articulations sensibles. Avec le temps et l'usage, il ne s'abime pas. Il répond parfaitement à mes attentes. Je le recommande

La esterilla es como en la foto, de unos colores muy vistosos y bonitos. De grosor tiene el ideal para mi gusto y es muy fácil y cómoda de transportar. En el suelo queda pegada y no resbala nada. Lo que sà es verdad que si sudas un poco, te resbalas un pelin. En los saludos al sol, en el downward facing dog se me iban un poco las manos (pero en la esterilla que usaba del gym tb me pasaba...). En las demas posturas no noté nada mal. La recomiendo.

I am terribly disappointed with this purchase. I had brought 2 previous Gaiam yoga mats and got a year out if each. They held to the yoga studio floor and my feet. This new mat SLIPS on the ground! I have washed the mat and and still it slips. This is both annoying and dangerous. The main thing a yoga should do is NOT SLIP. I will not purchase gaiam again. I was so excited for the arrival of this mat and now I'm using it on top of my older mat to stop it slipping.Obviously their quality has dropped significantly. Buy other yoga mat brands. I also waiting nearly 2 months for this mat!
