I needed to connect my TV set top box to my DVD recorder, which I use a a VCR. Because of the fidelity of HDMI there is no HDMI-in socket, so I needed to go RCA. This device takes HDMi in one end and spits out the 3-wire RCA at the other end. The quality of the recordings is very good, better than any VCR.I bought the first one a couple of years ago; it started acting up, so I bought another one. not expensive, and problem solved.

I used this to play Xbox One on older TV with RCA (& component & coaxial inputs) only, though the TV does support 1080i. Very easy to connect and use, since its USB power can be plugged directly into the Xbox One console (& the HDMI & RCA connections are no-brainers).Shame on Microsoft/ Xbox on providing ONLY HDMI output on its One, the old 360 has HDMI and another output (dunno what it's called) which gives Component and RCA outputs (by using a converter wire thingummy). Why did it take OUT the second output in the One? does it get a kickback from TV manufacturers for forcing customers to upgrade to an HDMI capable TV?! Kudos to "GANA" and others for manufacturing solutions to fix these problems.I had tried another product (from Radio Shack) for converting the Xbox One's HDMI to RCA, and it gave a very poor result. After several months, I decided to give this product a try, and it works just fine.Note that this product was able to give 480i and 720p output, but NOT 1080i. I believe it is the Xbox One that is the problem here, since I believe HDMI gives out only 1080p which does not convert to 1080i. But I am NOT a technical guy, and am not sure of the reasons. Long story short, I can get only 720p quality on my One's games, whereas my old 360 games still give me 1080i quality! Go figure!Still, note that this 720p is better than what the product claims ("… signal (standard-definition 480i, 576i) …").I just wish the manufacturer also came up with a way to convert to a 1080i signal. (But I did not take off any overall 'stars' for that, since it does what it promised, and more.)

It works as expected. I am connecting an Android TV streaming box to an old Sony Wega 37" CRT TV. This TV is capable of 1080p via RCA connections, but the picture when using the Android box through this adapter gets fuzzy when I set the box to 1080p or allow it to auto set resolution. All seems well when I set to 720 though.Can't blame the adapter though, not sure if it is lousy cables, the TV doing something funny or what. However for an old CRT the picture at 720 is great.One problem I had that I can fault the adapter for was taken care of quickly by the seller, and that is the first one they shipped was defective. It simply was lacking in any ability to display red. The seller was prompt and polite, shipping out a replacement with no hassles at all.Another problem with the adapter, and it seemed to be true for both adapters I had, was the NTSC / PAL switch seems to be labelled backwards. No harm done, just seems funny having to run the adapter in PAL mode in the U.S. is all. If you get one of these and hook it up, and you get a picture that looks, well... scrambled, slide the switch the other way and it should clear up!One concern I had after getting it going, and it might have been the adapter doing a sort of burn in, or it might be an indicator of problems to come, only time will tell, but the picture would flicker a hair for the first 10 minutes of use. After that it cleared up and hasn't happened again. I am hoping for this being a burn in and not really a problem. Since there is painfully little documentation it is hard to know.This really helps me cut the cord with my horribly expensive Satelite provider, and gives me programming options that I could only dream of with regular pay TV.If you have an older TV, and are considering a cord cutting project using a modern streaming box with HDMI out, I would highly recommend this adapter to pull it all together.All told I like the device, even with its faults.Due to the minor faults I found iwth it, I am giving it 4 stars. A design change and improved QC at the factory would certainly improve the rating.

Despite quite a few bad reviews, I decided to take a chance on this GANA HDMI to RCA converter. For less than 12 bucks I wasn't expecting as good a picture as I got. I hooked the unit up to my Direct TV box and output to a VCR/DVD recorder.The VCR/DVD unit I hooked up to my 47 inch TV. The 480p picture looked as good as any I've seen. Only problem I encounter was after the initial hookup I noticed the picture when tuned to some channels seemed to shake sideways like it was trying to loose sync. It would clear up for a few seconds and start again. I suspected it might be some kind of copyguard or something. I left everything on and left. When I returned a couple hours later everything was fine.Perhaps the unit just needed to warm up a bit. Speaking of which, quite a few negative comments spoke of the unit getting very hot. I used a small USB wall Phone charger to power the unit. I have checked it several times and it is barely warm. For me this unit works great and I have been using it for about 10 days.

Bought this as my TV lost its HDMI function and Smart TV functions. Functions properly however you might have to play around with the yellow (Video) cable to ensure you get the coloured lined screen if you get the black & white (without connecting anything into the hdmi port).Items works great so far and works with latest version of Amazon Firestick, though take note that the screen resolution might be abit off as well as the colours slightly washed out but watching movies on Netflix/Disney+ still gives you good clarity.All in all a good buy and will buy from seller again.

There are cheaper alike models available. I bought two before and none of them worked properly, dropping picture every few seconds. GANA worked perfectly!
